The docent (a high school teacher) was incredibly knowledgeable about John Muir...fascinating stories.

You'll find a highly knowledgeable staff, with a great supply of information, maps, background, and history. There are some very nice displays, including some first editions of John Muir's works.

The Center is an opportunity for anyone to come in and learn about the history of Muir and his travels through the area. The building itself is a historical building located in the historical town of Coulterville and is located along the Historic John Muir Route. Inside the Center you can view the display of Muir first edition books, something that I wasn't aware of....all the books Muir wrote including "My First Summer in the Sierra" where Muir wrote about the Coulterville area and his walk to Yosemite...pretty cool.
