There is plenty of free parking close to the bridge's Omaha-side entrance. We walked across to attend the summer concerts in the park and we able to easily exit after the show.
This is a nice little walk. It's especially fun for kids to walk from Nebraska to Iowa. Nice picture-taking spots. You have to take the one with one foot in NE and one in IA. The only negative is that there are a lot of bikers that use this as a part of their trail and they aren't too tolerant of pedestrians.
Visited this bridge in January when it was a nice day and I was on a run. It was the first time I'd been to it since I moved to Omaha in July. It was okay. Nothing too spectacular. I'm sure it would've been a lot nicer during the summer when it is nicer out and the environment is more lively and green.
So unusual and right off downtown and the Old Market. Crossing a river this large on a walking/biking bridge is special and the view at sunset/night is amazing. Concerts on IA side have been a favorite, the last two years, as well. Great for couples, families, individuals. I love cities and old areas and don't expect sterile perfect environments. Be aware, be careful, and you will be fine. Life is an adventure...don't hide in the computer or tv...go for it!
The pedestrian bridge has a cool little museum that you can go through with a nicely landscaped garden area around the building. My young children were not very interested in this. What they did love was the splash area. This was very fun for them and it had lots of seating for parents where you can easily watch the kids play. The bridge is pretty amazing and a nice walk across. They even have bikes you can rent to ride instead. It's a fun FREE activity to do in Omaha.
This is a nice walk. When you cross into Iowa there is a park at the end of the bridge. You can get a good bit of exercise and it is fun to see where the two states meet and get your picture taken straddling both states.
My wife and I walked across and back I about 30 min. It was February and pretty cold, probably not so much fun if windy out. Nice park on the Iowa side and nice walking/running track on Nebraska side. Parking pretty easy.
This bridge is perfect for an afternoon adventure. There is plenty of room for pedestrians and cyclists and if you hold still you can feel it sway slightly. It is beautiful at dusk when it is lit up.
Go at dusk when the lights are coming on then walk across great sunset view of down town Omaha. elk or bike across the longs per bridge to connect 2 states
Cool to walk across, safe and clean. Not a lot to do, but its a nice place to see on the way to or from Heartland of America park.Didnt think it was possible to make the border of Nebraska and Iowa seem interesting, but they did it!Nebraska side has some condos and a small park, Iowa side seemed to have an open field/trees.
We had a few minutes to kill before our flight back to home. This is super close to the airport and it was nice to get out and walk before our long flight home. Don't miss this.
How cool is it to be able to say, "I'm standing with one leg in Nebraska and the other in Iowa." Awesome. The bridge is stunning and when we were here, there was a lot of flooding going on so the water was very swift and high. The views around were nice to see. Great place to walk.
Wow the bridge itself is a beauty a masterpiece of engineering, I love looking out my window at night and watching the lights. The bridge itself is a fun walk about a mile round trip if you just walk the bridge and it gives you a chance to interact with some of our friendly neighbors. The view from the bridge is awesome. Looking down the Missouri slipping into dreams of riverboats and rafts moving America's products in the early days of the country.Be sure to bring a camera for the obligatory state line picture
this is worth the stop. it's was cloudy & cold but we are going back so we can walk across the whole thing to enjoy the beauty of it in the spring.
Fun to go across any time of the day, and the lights are neat at night. Bike or walk. The little museum at the base on Nebraska side is neat with animal and Nebraska exhibits, and walking along the waterfront is always neat.
