we packed up our breakfast items and chose a nice spot near the beach to lounge in the sun and have our breakfast. There was no one there and we had the place to ourself being early morning Very short drive from Harrahs where we were staying. little black and white shells on the beach and ducks abounding. it is not very isolated as there is residential housing all around but it still was a nice park and picnicking place with bathrooms etc
We have gone to many Nevada state parks and have always enjoyed them, until now. We had gone just for a day trip and to have a picnic and enjoy the area. We actually stumbled upon it, and had no information on it. There is a $9.00 fee which you pay at the gate as soon as you enter. We should had turned around at that point! The woman at the entrance gate could give us no information except for yes, there is a beach and yes, there are picnic areas. We asked about hiking trails, and how strenuous they were; and were handed a map. She had absolutely no knowledge about the park, including possible activities, history, geology, or special points of interest. We did do a drive thru after paying our 9.00. Campground looks in nice condition, but really not alot of people camping there figuring it's still snowbird season. Very nice beach area and a reasonable amount of picnic tables available (we did not choose to picnic here, and took a drive down Route 66 instead). It's probably a great beach in summer, but for 9.00 there are alot of other locations available that 'seem' to have more to offer. There may be more to this park than what we saw driving around, but apparently they want to keep it a secret.
One of the finest RV sites in all my travels and I've got a lot of miles under the axle. Each site is very separate with cabana BBQ and table. Full hook up , and walk to the river.
Beautiful area where you can dip into the Colorado River. The only down side is that it is very busy and there is fee to enter. Other than that awesome place.
Found out about this place from a brochure. Decided to take the hour and a half drive and it was sooooo worth it. The water is crystal clear, and Ice cold. No mud just small pebbles and sand. Pavilions line the shoreline but you have to arrive early to get one. We paid $17 entry fee for a family of 10. Be cautious of the river current it is definitely strong and small children should have life vests on. We stayed close to the shoreline in the water which is hip deep and was perfect. Be careful if you swim out as there were tons of jetskis going up and down the river
