I discovered this trail system quite by accident, I set out on an early morning geocaching expedition and found myself just enjoying the walk on this fabulous paved trail. The scenery is spectacular and I would have come back to use it for a run but I was nursing a bum toe when we were there.Others have talked about this trail project being a boondoggle and parts of the system have never been completed. I can't talk to that as I know nothing about the politics involved. But what I can say is that the trails that are in place are fantastic and a great way to escape the noise, smoke and hustle and bustle of the casinos.
If this is what is being spoken of, this is certainly one of the worst boondoggles I have ever witnessed. An absolute fortune was spent on the bridge and walkways which will never be appreciated by anyone more that the dumb politicians who put this together for their own legacy.
It was nice to get out and walk the trail. It's about 4 miles round trip. Take plenty of water and do not do it when it's hot!
As with all government projects I am still waiting on the fishing docks and vendor locations they promised when they started this project, the million dollar plus walkway over highway 168 and the hike to the old campground they are making into a picnic area is a nice refreshing walk. But with no place to park your boat, jet ski or fishing yet, let alone find a vendor stand selling water or sodas along the way, pack your own water or drinks for the mile or so walk, but since it is a free walk it has good views of the Davis Dam and Colorado River.
The pedestrian bridge that crosses hwy 163 is amazing. Who is the architect? Not only beautiful but the design allows the wind to blow any which way and not affect the structure. Start there and walk or bicycle all the way to the first rate/state of the art playgound at the Davis Dam. There are fishing ramadas for you to use, there are picnic places and washrooms at that end too. It's great, I like to bike it.
Just keep in mind that summer temperatures in Laughlin are aroun90-115 degrees. There are water fountains along the trail. Its about a 2 mile (4 mile roundtrip) hike to the Davis dam. There are places to hook up rv. There is a nice kiddie pool and picnic area at the end of the trail by the dam. The trail is a little hilly, but not hard to hike.
Firstly, the location listed took us to a residential area nowhere near the trail. It was a really nice stroll/hike with the family in the morning before the heat. It was an easy walk with pleasant views of the river and some desert scenery, including wild flowers. We even saw a snake, possibly a Kingsnake. There were informational plaques along the trail. And of course you can see the Davis Dam at the end. Recommend!
What a find. Learned about the Davis Dam and its history on a guided free tour. It was about 3 hours long, but you could stop and rest if need be. Water and benches were along the way. Really enjoyed this learning experience especially with temperatures in the 70's.
This was an unexpected find. Very nice paved trail for walking, running or biking. From Riverside Casino to the Davis Dam was about 2.5-3 miles one way. Nice walk on a bright sunny day. There are benches and water fountains along the way if needed. We met people of all ages and abilities along the trail. Near the Davis Dam there is a nice play area with playground equipment, picnic tables, public bathrooms.
This is a beautiful place to go for a walk in Laughlin. There are picnic areas, bathroom, and water fountains. Good place for families too.
The trail's pedestrian bridge over the highway is eye-catching and the parking and day-use areas on both sides of the bridge are nicely done. From the ped bridge, it's 2 flat miles on a concrete trail to Davis Dam. Lots of room to walk in gravel to avoid the concrete, however, and numerous picnic and shade areas with water along the route. A gravel trail system largely parallels the main route. Big expanse of grass and more day-use and parking areas with big views of the dam at the north end of the trail.
Wow nice easy walking trail along the Colorado River to the dam. Complete with rest areas and water fountains at perfect locations all along the trail. Main trail is asphalt with some small granular trails to the rest areas and down towards the rivers edge. Great landscaping and views of the river as well as the surrounding area. Well done.
The trail is about 1 mile each way and is nicely paved and has drinking fountains for humans and pets. It also has a horse trail. It is nice and nice to see something done with that area but it was done at a very large cost to the state of NV.
Just one of the places I was driving around and stopped. There were desert flowers blooming the day I went. I did not go very far on the trail. I like to grab food and park and eat it different areas and watch the sun go down.
Brand new trails overlooking the Colorado River. The trail starts at the bridge crossing the river and continues to Davis Dam. It is about a two mile walk. Water is available along the way. Good for exersize and nature observations
