I read about this place in our hotel and stopped by for a visit. The person greeting me was very friendly and even had binoculars to lend to me. There are lots of benches along the trails and, of course, lots of birds to see!

Where the neighboring Clark County Wetlands is a collection of trails, the Preserve is more of a community. I'm not downplaying the county property, which we enjoyed, it's just a different atmosphere. The preserve is easily found with any Google-enabled device, or just turn north off of Galleria between Ward and Moser Drive. There are small roadside signs pointing the way as well; just don't turn onto Moser Drive itself. The grounds are very well designed to attract wildlife, with lots of islands, marshes, and border habitats. They have nine ponds, a small dry basin with a sign about Burrowing Owls, and what appears to be a few unused basins that perhaps they can grow into in the future. We visited in February, so there weren't any of the warm-weather denizens, but even then there were dozens of species of birds to see.Open from roughly dawn til 2:00pm (noon during the hot summer months), the property is small enough to see it all in an hour or two but large enough to stay until closing time. The staff is what really makes this place special, though. Even though we'd never been there before we were greeted like friends. We paid the entrance fee, which was so minimal I don't recall the amount, got a quick rundown of the property, sightings of interest that morning and their locations, and started off. If you take your time, which I imagine most visitors will, it's easy to lose a half-day here, or just an hour; whatever you have time for.The Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve is a wonderful spot of tranquility just minutes from the city... don't miss it.

This quaint little find is a great place to view birds of the desert southwest. There are many species of ducks, egrets, blue herons and other migrating birds. Make sure you take your driver's license to you can sign out a pair of binoculars at the front desk.

This may be hard to find but it is well worth a visit . Staff are helpful and knowledgeable . A peaceful haven so close to the strip.

In nice weather this is a good way to get your walking in. Bring binoculars. Always something to see.

Lots of birds to see. Helpful staff. Scenic given its location on the grounds of a waste treatment facility. Very pleasantly surprised.

This is a great place to get away from the hectic pace of life and watch birds.Volunteers are very friendly and helpful. Bring your binoculars.Had never seen roadrunners before. We went in Oct., and although we live in MN, we had never seen the northern shoveler. Many had already migrated to NV, so we got to watch them in the ponds. Very entertaining behavior in a group. If you're a birder and in the area, this is worth the time to experience.

We had the pleasure of experiencing a wonderful, peaceful and wildlife filled adventure at Henderson. Within a short drive to the eastern side of Las Vegas, the Preserve is an oasis from the bright lights. They have walking paths around numerous ponds (including a couple of viewing platforms that offer an array of opportunities to view bird life! In the parking lot, you may be greeted by the buzz of Hummingbirds! (My husband was lucky to get some photos!) And,as soon as you enter into the preserve, you are greeted with a couple of picnic tables and hummingbird feeders (with an excellent opportunity to see "guests" vying for a meal). We were also greeted by a group of Gambel's Quail darting around under the feeders. There were birds too numerous to mention! The is no fee but check out the items that are for sale in the building. We were fortunate to have folks available to answer our birding questions. Thank you to these special people that are willing to share their expertise and their time! You will not be disappointed with this Preserve!

if you like an easy stroll in the morning, this is the place to go. We saw everything from hummingbirds to quail to Pelicans.

This is a fun spot for multi-generations. Lots of paved walkways/sidewalks. Plenty of birds to watch in the winter months. We like to go in the early mornings to see the wild rabbits too. This is one of my "go to" places when we have company.

I'm a photographer, not a birder, so I was a little disappointed I couldn't get closer photos. But, this has to be a birder paradise. I saw many different birds on my 1 1/2 tour, mostly water based birds. There are seven different ponds with paths around. There is a bridge to a platform in the middle of one pond. It's quiet, there are several viewing benches, and blinds, as well as a very friendly staff. I was on my mobility scooter, and the gentleman at the desk gave me a phone number to call if I got stuck, and he would come get me in a golf cart. I had no access problems by the way. The place is very well maintained and wel worth the effort.

Lovely ponds, birds, and landscape. Relaxing place to take a walk without worrying about cars. The staff is knowledgeable and more than willing to answer your questions.

Beautiful habitat for local birds and water fowl, and migrating birds that are passing through to other destinations.

Added a few to our list. Wished we had more than 20 minutes. They have binoculars to borrow. Nice paved loop for wheelchair passenger or those needing level path. The signs will get you to it. GPS is a bit off.

I am an avid birder and didn't know what to expect in the middle of the desert. We live in the Pacific Flyway so I'm spoiled. This Preserve consisted of 5 viewing ponds. It is wheelchair accessible with paved roads. The docent knew which ponds were active at that time. I added the Horned Grebe to my life list. The preserve closes at 2 so go early.
