We stopped at this place while passing through Goldfield, just because of the Old West storefront facade and an interesting vehicle parked outside. In name this is an Antiques and Collectibles shop. In actuality it is a fascinating look at things from the past, stuff we hadn't seen since childhood (kitchen items, bottles, brands), and the owner, Malek, seems to be the unofficial town historian of Goldfield. We expected to make a quick stop to check the place out, but ended up staying over an hour. The owner is absolutely engaging, so knowledgeable and full of stories and information about the history of the area. We loved the place, and we loved him! We could have spent another hour or two listening to stories, but did eventually have to get on our way. Being in what seemed to be the middle of nowhere, it was amazing the collection of items he had! We were with someone who collects glass bottles, and he was absolutely floored by the depth and quality of the collection he found there. And things were reasonably priced as well. The ELITE Trading Post was far more interesting than any of the tourist garbage we saw on our trip to Reno and Las Vegas. If you have the opportunity to drive between the 2 cities, don't miss this stop. And if you're someone who collects antiques or collectibles, by all means you don't want to miss this seemingly hidden gem.
