We have wanted to play here for a while but hadn't had the opportunity until this trip. About 15 minutes off the main highway 395. Our tee time was 12:20 and we managed to get in 12 holes by 2:00 or so before the wind, lightning and thunder started. It's a great layout...interesting holes and water comes into play several times. We managed to come back within the week (discounted replay within 7 days) and got all 18 in that time. I hear from locals that it's better to play in the morning as the wind really blows through in the afternoons. Good value and we'd go back. Undulating greens and fairways.
It's a beautiful course to golf (with mountain scenes and wild horses running across the backdrop). Also, it can be a great place to eat, except the locals never know when they are serving food, due to lack of posted information (near gates would be nice). It's always enjoyable to stop by for a drink and appetizer during the afternoon. Golf experiences are always good (as far as your golfing talent allows). I have a definite lack of golf talent, but it's always enjoyable nonetheless. Great golf deals for visitors.
The design is interesting but!!!!! The greens are rock hard and lightening fast. I had a difficult time finding any ball marks on the greens due to the hard surface. Unless you are a pro with great back spin skills, it's difficult to keep the ball on a green after a good approach shot. The designer was especially generous with bunkers around the greens. Hole #12 has bunkers all across the front of the green within 2 feet of the green. The bunkers extend approximately 30 yards back from the green. Coupled with the hard green, it's nearly impossible to make a good approach shot. Actually, it appears the course may have had a large area of dead grass in front of the green an elected to replace it with a waste bunker. Overall, I consider the course unfair in it's current condition.
The layout was uninteresting and not particularly well kept. The tee boxes were rough. The GPS system provided was off by 10 yards or more. Be warned, strong winds develop every day at noon.
We live here but can you believe if you join Club 100 you can play unlimited golf? Check thier website. Tough course but it will make you play better.
This is a well designed course for all skill levels. Course is in great shape for northern Nevada this time of year with only a couple of spots that still need attention. Will play again soon
My husband and I played this course in August and had a great time. The course is used as a qualifying site for the PGA but is amatuer friendly. The course is very well manicured and winds its way through the residential community with the same name. This is a woman friendly course with no forced carries; water comes into play on 11 holes. The price was pretty reasonable and included a cart. Play this course, you will not be disappointed!
