This was so much fun, mostly because of our tour guide. Such a great sense of humor and so patient with a trolley full of yakking women. And I do mean full. We were packed in. Hint: take an outward facing seat close to the driver. It make the trip so personable. Jacksonville is a delightful town with a delightful history, with so many beautiful buildings and homes.

Relatives told us about the trolley tour and the city of Jacksonville. We were not expecting too much because Jacksonville is really in the middle of 'nowhere' - but we had a fabulous time and really enjoyed the beautiful day and the sightseeing tour. The tour starts every hour on the hour from 11 am through the day and lasted about 45-50 minutes - was $5 per person - and took us around much of the city - showing us the top locations with the driver being very versed in Jacksonville history and sharing with us many antidotes of historical lore about the city. In the middle of all this, we also saw deer resting on people's lawns. The day was warm, but the trolley was shaded and it was a fun ride for adults and children alike. If I make it back to Jacksonville, I'd take the tour again.Park past the post office in public parking there - there is a public restroom nearby. We also stopped at the Information booth next to the Post Office to get information about the city. We went out to lunch after the tour and stayed about 2-3 hours in the city.

We wave to the visitors riding this trolley almost every day. In the weeks surrounding Christmas you can bundle up and enjoy the same tour in a horse-drawn trolley. Super cool, and if the price hasn't changed, it's only five bucks. The drivers are members of the Historical Society and well-versed in the town's history, some even being descended from significant figures who lived in Jacksonville in bygone days. This is a wonderful way to see the historic spots in Jville, such as the spot where gold was first discovered, and to get an overview of the whole town.

I live in Jacksonville and often take out of town company on the Trolly Tour! It's fun and a great way to rest your feet while seeing the sites in comfort. About 40min and the small fee go to the city to maintain the Trolly. We are a tiny community and could not afford the Trolly without this small assistance.

If it is your first time in the Jacksonville area then the trolley is a must. My husband and I took the trip in late October and it was a bit brisk but the ride was so enjoyable and the driver was a delight. There was only one other couple on our 11:00 tour so we had lots of interaction. We sat close to the driver and had no trouble hearing. We learned so much about the early days in Jacksonville and saw areas that we would not have seen if we were just driving. This would make a fun family outing.

My wife and I took this tour on a late September afternoon and we really enjoyed it. There was only one other couple on the trolley. We took the seats right at the side of the driver and we could hear everything perfectly. The other couple initially sat in the middle of the trolley but later moved to the bench on the other side of the driver and they complained about the acoustics. Because we could clearly understand the driver it became a very pleasant and informative way to learn a bit of history of Jacksonville. The bus stopped by most important buildings, the cemetery and the driver also gave great recommendations on the local restaurants and shops. So, if you can grab a seat close to the driver it is well worth it. If we did a self-tour instead we really would have missed a lot.

Good way to get your bearings in Jacksonville and learn a bit about the city. Poor mic system, though. Difficult to understand.

The acoustics on this trolley were very poor and at one point gave out entirely and the driver had to stop the tour and change batteries on his headset, which helped at first, but then the volume decreased again. If you were not sitting directly in back of him, it was very hard to hear and impossible to hear if any traffic was passing. He also had a habit of stopping in the sun and telling a story. so that those not in the shade were broiling. What I heard of the tour was entertaining and he pointed out many interesting sites. He should also make a point of making an announcement that others on the tour should refrain from having conversations and that, perhaps cell phones should be turned off. Two gentlemen with hearing aids decided to have their own conversations (probably because they could not hear the tour operator), but that meant there was no chance that those around them could her.

We thought this would be a good 20min diversion for the kids (they were getting antsy going in and out of the cute shops). For $5 per adult, big kids $3 and little kids free, it was excellent value, informative and the driver was fun. Love Jacksonville; very cute spot.

This historic 45min trolley tour is well worth the $5!! We had such a fun time- interesting history and great info on local businesses.

This is a relaxing and interesting way to learn about this historic town. The tour takes you to the outskirts of town, to places further than you might want to walk. Once you have been onboard, you can decide what you want to return to see in more detail. Cute town, nice people living there...all who will be happy to help you with any questions you might have.

The historic Jacksonville Trolley Tour starts downtown on N. Third Street next to the Beekman Bank exhibit at California Street. The tours last under an hour and runs seasonally 7 days a week. The summer 2013 schedule starts each tour hourly between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM. You board the trolley at the starting point (not jumping on mid-tour) and it winds its way through town, with a narration of history and interesting sights. This is a perfect way to explore areas outside of the downtown core. They ask $5 for adults and $3 for ages 6-12, free under 6. When you pay, you are helping this quaint historic town thrive. What a great investment! I love the trolley tour because it is special and quaint and just fun! I am a local and I love my houseguests to take the trolley with me. After many rides over five years, I have found the narration is slightly different each time because the moderators add their own emphasis. That makes it charmingly personal. Go multiple times to get that different perspective and refresh your memory on the stories you heard before. Please take the trolley tour and decide for yourself!

Since we were only in Jacksonville for one day, we wanted to get acquainted with its history and important sites. On the trolley you could choose between open-air seating at either end or an enclosed area in the middle. Obviously not wheel-chair accessible but one gentleman was able to climb aboard with help and his wheel chair was stowed in the rear. The tour itself was narrated by the driver who took it slowly and paused by important buildings, the cemetery and special shops. This was a pleasant way to spend most of an hour for only $5.00 per adult.

Our driver was charming, and it's a good way to see the 1850-1880 houses and stores, but the seats are flat-out uncomfortable, and too many of the sights are retail establishments. There's a little history but just a little, ad no sense of wh now lives in the town.

The Trolley tour took us back in time to the Gold Rush days with early settler's stories. It really brought history to life in this tiny town rich with heritage, as well as perspective on southern Oregon's early days.
