I was very disappointed. I had checked the web site before driving the 50 miles required to reach the destination. It was bloated with latched doors on all sides of said building. The building was empty of artifact, however there were air conditions blowing cold air out of the large vents one on each side of all 4 exterior doors.

Years ago it was sold to the city of Okmulgee, just recently the Creeks bought it back, no doubt with casino money. It exhibits things that you don't normally see like Indian sports. I have not been there for about 5 years but I plan on revisiting The building is over 100 years old and most of it original and well maintained. If you like hardwood floors you will love this building

I am embarrassed that I am white and have to witness again the destruction and unfair acts of the Creek Council House Museum Board of Directors like Rusty Milroy and the other's who allowed the sale or auction of these items. Again the moral decay of the christians is seen in the actions of these people. SHAME on the Board, Shame on those who didn't speak up for the dignity of the Creek Nation.

Change of management has forced its close, from what I understand. I specifically went to Okmulgee to visit this attraction and it was not available even though the website did not indicate this.

Being of native american heritage, this was very interesting.

This is a large, tour-it-yourself museum. There is so much history there and artifacts, it might take some time to absorb it all. The fellow who attends the gift area was a wealth of knowledge and was most pleasant to talk to . There is so much history in the area and that happened in that building over the years, that warrents a visit in my opinion.

Very interesting. Native American artifacts, etc. The building architecture was also great.

Many people don't realize what a rich wealth of history that Okmulgee has. Before Oklahoma was even a state, the Creek Indian had already made Okmulgee into a thriving center of commerce. The museum is housed in the original tribal counsel house, where many great and important decisions were made. It's a small museum, but the guide is more than happy to elaborate on the artifacts housed inside as well as give detailed historical accounts of the Creek Indian.Truly a "must see" if you're in or around Okmulgee, Oklahoma.http://hubpages.com/hub/Fun-things-to-do-in-Okmulgee-Oklahoma
