If your looking for a weekend camping getaway to fish at a lake, needing a place to stop and camp for the night, or wanting a great hunting experience. You will not be disappointed. Camping and usage of the grassland is free. Worth a visit.

Oklahoma and being aware vaguely about the Army massacres at Sand Creek, Colorado and at the Washita river site near Cheyenne we wanted to get more info. This is a National park so we were prepared to use our Golden Ager cards but there is no charge. The museum is very well set up and the dioramas and displays are well done. You can get an idea of what they must have looked like in their original glory at the Black Kettle National Grassland, at Hwy. 47 and Hwy. 47A, near Cheyenne, OK, around the monument to the Battle of the Washita, between Custer's forces and the local Cheyenne Indians. The park rangers at the visitors' center are very helpful and knowledgeable. This is a beautiful, quiet, place, and an unforgettable must-see.
