My 3 year old grandson and I enjoyed every minute at the Boonshoft. It offers a comfortable and secure environment. His favorite place was the market and the animals. The only way the Boonshoft could improve would be for all of the exhibits to work. Several of the exhibits were well worn or not working.
My first grader loves the Boonshoft. They have so much for that age group to enjoy. Birthday parties are fun here also. The Harry Potter Camps are really fantastic and my son enjoyed those in 3rd/4th grade. We get a membership every year.
Always fun and educational- great activities for the kids on any cold winter day or any rainy day. Check to see what exhibit is being featured. My kids would never want to leave.
Great family outing. Kids can explore all kinds of interesting objects and animals. Lots to do. Well worth the trip.
My pre school age son loves the Boonshoft. Was a little disappointed that some of the AV equipment did not seem to be working correctly. But my son did not notice at all.
This place is great for school-aged kids and little kids--there's a small area for toddlers. With space, animals, a climbing structure, nature and store exhibits to try out, this has something for almost all kids. Wouldn't take teens, unless they like watching their younger sibs have fun. It's fairly small, but has lots to see. Not as big as COSI and meant for younger kids than that. We've taken a lot of different ages and everyone seems to enjoy it. Small eating area, and I think you can take your own food, although they have vending machines.
I definitely recommend the Boonschoft Museum for grade school and preschool age children. One thing to note, is that the food for purchase is from vending machines, so we typically leave a cooler in the car and go out and get it at lunch time (or even eat in the car). It is a smaller museum but definitely good for several hours of hands on fun.
This place is not for teenagers or middle school folks. It is geared for the young children in Elementry schools who love to touch and feel and run around. Its not that big but for these young children, it is huge.
I really am not impressed with this museum and rather ashamed it's in the city I live. It is definitely overpriced for what you get. I also found it to be a little dirty and not taken care of. I will gladly drive to COSI in Columbus or wait until I'm in Cleveland for the science center.
Small, but perfect for young kids. My 6yr old & 20month old both love it.Not as big as Cincy or Columbus museums, but neither is Dayton itself.Great value for the money.3-4hours worth of activities
Every time I take my two boys here they are sick 5 days later. The exhibits are never updated or cleaned. Very few things work inside. Yet the prices are extremely high for what you get in return. They call the animal area a "zoo" however there are less then 10 visible animals most days. This whole place needs a "refresh" to justify the $16.95 charge per kid.
We usually buy a season pass for the family and get great use out of it. The price for a pass is extremely reasonable. The little kids (ages 5 and 7) love it. The oldest (11) gets bored. PlAnetarium is fun. Great for younger kids.
We have been here a few times in the past couple of years. The kids always have a great time. Highlight of their visits are the water area and the climbing area. I wish they updated it a little more. I feel like it hasnt changed much in the past 10 years!
Great way to do something with the kids that is a little different. It is smaller than the museums in Cincinnati or Columbus but it is close and is large enough to entertain and educate the kids.
I visited with my teens. I think it's overpriced in that we saw everything in an hour or two. Its perfect for toddlers to jr high. Most exhibits were closed off or worn out and there was definitely someone with a dirty diaper. We spent more time in places with little or no kids. I wish they had a tends night like they have an over 21 night. Beware the bathrooms, not sure what the cleaning schedule is but it's not apparent.
