raven rock state nature preserve

On Saturday, January 24, 2015, a group of us began a 6-mile exploratory hike from Camp 2 in Shawnee along the Ridgeline to reach Raven Rock. We made it!Raven Rock is one of the largest and most awesome Arch formations in the State of Ohio. Although we elected the tough way to reach it, it can easily (within reason) be reached by parking in one of 2-3 parking spots along US 52 just a few miles west of Portsmouth and hiking up to it. From the top, there are spectacular views of Portsmouth and the Ohio Valley. Along with Shawnee Forest, this is a must do outdoor adventure in Southeastern Ohio.
