We stayed in a preferred cottage for the weekend. It was absolutely beautiful. Picturesque views from the covered porch. We were right by the water, which is now frozen solid, and with the snow it was a perfect winter wonderland setting. The cabin is a little dated, especially the tv, but the comfort and serenity offered greatly overcome the slight shortcomings.

these cottages were like being home....bunk beds in one bedroom, a double bed and a rollaway in the other...screened in porch, gas grill on deck with 2 picnic tables; full electric kitchen with hot water and if necessary, the cottage is heated (maybe will need if i go in the winter)...fire ring nearby, parking a bit of a problem. cottages far enough away from each other so you are not bothered by neighbors, the (non-wood) indoor fireplace was a major plus late at night after the fire went out...a lovely place, could not see much of the water, but a short drive to beach (with playground) or the dam. the only thing we really missed was a playground in the cottage are (like we found at pymatuning); lots of activities for halloween

Very nice, peaceful campgrounds with many well shaded and large campsites… Restroom and shower houses are older, but clean and well maintained. Secluded roomy sites with natural and well keep grounds. Reservations available online. Lake for boating and fishing, hiking, and nice beach area. Close to Newark, Zanesville, Black Hand Gorge and the Wilds.

We stayed the weekend in one of the cottages and had a wonderful trip. Some items to know that I couldn't find on their website:1. The 2 beds in the second bedroom are bunk beds.2. There is a roll away cot in the cabin as well3. There is a kids pool with fountain at the beach4. The camp store sells hand dipped ice cream! It rained one day so we went to "The Works" in Newark and had a great time.Overall, simple and clean cabins and the hiking trails were great -even for our littlest travelers who were 2. Bring some extra silverware, as there wasn't enough for our family. There also is no sponge in the sink.A great quick weekend get away!

We stayed 3 nights at Dillon State Park in July 2014.... We camped on site 85... If you get off the State Street exit in Zanesville, Oh and follow the State Park signs you will have no problem.... Entrance is on left, about 8 miles from interstate... They have a Naturalist for kids activities and Rangers who patrol the park 24 hrs a day.... The swimming area, marina and camping are all separate (a few miles apart). There are 3 camping areas, each with there own shower house and flush toilets through the park.... The swimming area is big but it looks like they scraped all the sand from the beach. (someone said it was to get rid of the goose poop).. The marina is big with plenty of docks. The fishing area is beautiful but fish were few... There is a camp store with food and novelty items and hand scooped ice cream... The only con I had was the location of the dumpsters. They are at the entrance to the park. So we put our bagged trash in the back of the truck and disposed of it as we departed... I would go back.

While driving west from NJ, my first stop in my mini RV was at this park and was lucky to find out that this Ohio state park was not closed for the winter. It was spacious and practically empty, the staff was pleasant and the facilities clean. Brrrr- it was 22 degrees outside but cozy inside. I was glad my tenting days were over.
