We love Shelburne Farms, in all seasons! The walking trails, children's barnyard, maple weekend, snowshoeing, sleigh rides, harvest fest. The children's barnyard staff are always so helpful and engaging with the kids, watching the cheese making, and stopping for a delicious croissant from O'Bread. Our favorite spot- we always take friends and family when they visit!

One of the most spectacular settings in Vermont. Something for everyone. Very educational with numerous public events throughout the year.

Easily one of the most picturesque pieces of shoreline property in all of Vermont and open to the public for a reasonable price. There are miles of walking trails available for all ability levels that wind through thousands of acres of property in Shelburne. The farm barn offers a classic petting zoo for adults and children alike. There is also a great small bakery and cheese making operation on the grounds. There are regular classes available on their calendar and the entire property is open for free-of-charge hiking (with dogs allowed off-season) from Nov-Apr.

I visited Shelburne Farms many times before with family who live in Shelburne. This time, I was traveling with a friend and I wanted her to see the place. On a beautiful October day, the colors were spectacular, the Lake was glistening, and the barns and buildings remarkable. We found a place on the shore to have a picnic that is memorable. An art show at the Carriage Barn was excellent, and touring the main barns was also delightful.

What a nice surprise this place was! Pulled up expecting just a small gift shop. But this place was huge! Took a 15 min walk to the actual farm where there was a small bakery along with a few farm animals. Was able to hike into the woods to see the maple farming as well as well as a gorgeous view of lake Champlain

We did not see all of farm as my grandparents lived on farm but watched video and learned history. Visiting in October many of educational offerings of summer were gone. Have to pay admission fee to see anything other than store and video.

Took the kids here on a recent visit to VT. Took the tractor pulled wagon from the free parking lot to the farm. Kids could pet farm animals like cows, sheep, and goats. At certain times, you could see a chicken parade (and pick one up!), walk a baby goat, or milk a cow. There was also a play and dress up area, cheese making area, and bakery. A food cart sold lite fare during lunch hours. We had a family photo shoot there up on the hill behind the farm where there were views of Camel's Hump, Mt. Mansfield, and there was a nice field with foliage in the background, as well as a large garden. Reasonable admission price with a visitor center and gift shop by the parking lot where we picked up some souvenirs.

If you like harvest festivals and farms, then this is the place to visit. It's about a 2 hour drive North from Rutland, VT. Enjoy great food from local farms and a wide variety of entertainment. The festival is every September - all day on a Saturday, and there are games and activities for the children, many vendors from which to buy gifts and food. Volunteers are dressed in medieval costumes providing one of a kind entertainment as well. You can also drive around the grounds and see the rest of the farm. The do offer tours during the year just not during the festival. There is an entrance fee but definitely worth the time and money to spend with family.

Thanks for your kind review. Hope you make it back sometime. (Maybe when it's warmer for you!)

I was very, very impressed by the buildings and grounds of Shelburne. I'm a big fan of landscape architecture, & being in one of Olmsted 's creations was very cool. The staff was professional and friendly, & eager to help. The only slight negative was the quality of the bedding. The mattresses were old & lumpy, and the pillows were pretty sad. But I know it costs an awful lot to offer top of the line stuff, & they aren't a profit oriented concern. So I'd return, but I'd bring my own pillow.

This was such an amazing place to bring my toddler. The animals the food and the locations are very breathtaking. The staff is always on hand to answer questions, and the landscape takes your breath away. My only regret was we didn't have a full day there. Spend the entire day if you can, hacking, walking and petting animals...oh and eating cheese. The visitors center store is worth a stop on the way out, and buy lots of delicious goodies!

We stopped in to buy (or order) some real Vermont Maple Syrup, but were pleasantly surprised with so much more. This place has a gift shop (that will ship), but it also offers a walking tour that takes you through gardens as well as by barns and a dairy.

A must when visiting the Burlington, Vermont area. There is so much history and beauty that will encompass you as you go through the property. Jogging and hiking trails are in abundance. Visit the barn and you can see cheese making and milk some cows if you're there at the right time. Take the time to go through the mansion that sits on Lake Champlain (you can stay there or dine there if you want). Take the tour to find out more. The guides are very knowledgeable and eager to make sure to point out the highlights. And, spend a few minutes in the visitors center where you can taste the local cheeses and sample some of the best jams, mustards, and sauces around.

This is one of the most beautiful properties I've ever had the opportunity to walk around. They give you the option to walk around the property on your own or take an hour and a half tour with a guide. I went with my girlfriend for a good 2-3 hour walk around. Lots of farm animals, very nice workers and some spectacular views of Lake Champlain and the mountains. If you ever find yourself around this location please take the time to visit. $8/person for non residents. Enjoy!
