What would we do without THT? With almost an event a day all year from plays to high def operas, THT has something for everyone. We go here quite often and it's just outstanding. Stop by when you are in Middlebury or take greater advantage if you live here! A bit of the big city in our rural town.

The Town Hall Theater was built in the 1880's with a theater over the town offices which were in the basement - first floor. The restoration completed almost ten years ago provides a vibrant theater space in which many performances are given by local and national groups, to include screenings of HD Met Opera and National Theatre performances. THT provides a large number of educational programs and there is the small but beautiful Jackson Art Gallery in the old town offices.

This lovingly restored theater is the home for professional opera in little Middlebury. I highly recommend.

I live in the Middlebury area and have seen a wide variety of shows at the theater. I never cease to be amazed at the caliber of talent at every one of these shows, and at how incredibly professionally the shows get presented from the set to lights, costumes, and choreography. I feel so privileged and lucky to get to see NYC quality shows at comparatively minimal prices right here in my own town! The theater is very comfortable with a very pleasant ambiance (and the ladies restroom is huge!). I like that you can see and hear well no matter where you sit in the theater, downstairs or in the balcony. Not uncommonly there is a live orchestra accompanying the performers; very enjoyable!!Lynn C

The Town Hall Theater is a wonderful resource in central Vermont, making top-quality productions available. A real class act!

I live about an hour from the Town Hall Theater and am so grateful to have a theater like this nearby... I often pick one of their productions and then build a whole mini-holiday around it. Middlebury is a great little town with lots to see by day but it is the THT with great evening performances that gives me a reason to make it a weekend getaway. Think about it: London theater or fun-funny local theater or amazing music but in a small town, comfortable Vermont, beautiful building -- a perfect sat night really

When we retired and moved to Middlebury we were unaware of the importance of the artistic center of the community -- Town Hall Theater. There is rarely a week go by that there isn't something to attend there, everything from opera -- live productions by the Opera Company of Middlebury, and the HD broadcasts from the Metropolitan Opera -- to plays and musicals to blue grass and folk music. Just last week the amazing Lightwire Theater was playing. And it also serves as a venue for things like dances and parties as well. I watched the THT rise from the day Doug and his partner bought the building, to the day of the grand opening. We watched the bell be transported from the Henry Sheldon Sheldon Museum to the THT. It was the original bell and was coming home to live in the steeple. The same with the weather vane! I used to hear about the building when it was the movie theater. The balcony was famous!THT restored the balcony. Now it is the most comfortable place to see a show. Doug Anderson is a warm and welcoming individual. When you attend anything you feel right at home. He is working very hard on creating dine and show in our area. Now there is no excuse to stay home!The THT is a gem in our community!Sincerely,Cathy F. Trudel

The Town Hall Theater has something for everyone. I have seen the Metropolitan Opera live in HD, live opera by a local opera company with visiting stars, stage shows done by very talented local people, talent shows, concerts of all types, broadcasts from the National Theater in London, and more, all at very reasonable prices. Last year there were broadcasts from museums in Europe with a lecture about specific artists. Not only can you learn; you can be entertained. There is an art gallery on site featuring exhibits by local artists.This is a wonderful place to visit any time during the year. Don't miss it!

Town Hall Theater is home to the Opera Company of Middlebury, the Middlebury Community Players, Middlebury Actor's Workshop, The Company - all producing amazing community and professional works. They show the Metropolitan Opera HD broadcasts, the National Theatre broadcasts and live concerts by local bands like The Grift.A great art gallery featuring local artists. A great place to get married - many churches within walking distance. Wine and beer available at many shows.
