I have been to 2 other very nice REAL wineries in Florida. I think the state of Florida needs to investigate this place. It is NOT a winery. It was a rather rude man in a house opening boxes of wine they have shipped in? I can do that at my own house. Where is the winery part? No vineyards, no bottling, no wine vats. You drive down a dusty road that is riddled with huge holes anticipating a quaint winery. What you see is a small house in disrepair with overgrown landscape. Even the winery sign is grown over with weeds. Inside this man gives wine samples at a bar in the living room of this house. He also sells what looks like "garage sale" items that have nothing to do with wine. I called it JUNK. Total waste of time and it should not be given the honor of calling it a Florida Winery.
We will have to find more winery in Florida, as I think we have been spoiled by the excellent winery experience in the Finger Lakes of NY. The tasting was interesting and the wine master was knowledgeable. Some of the wines were very good. Not much of a "estate" no grapes, or equipment to be seen.
We tried some of the wine but it was just not the type of wine we prefer. The attitude of the older man serving was what has prompted my negative review. He was insulting and just didn't seem to care. Won't be recommending this place to my friends.
We added this winery to our list to visit. Their website looked good and it was only going to be a short afternoon ride over. We were so disappointed when we pulled up to a house surrounded by trees. No estate, no vineyard, just a house on a little dirt road. We are not pretentious wine drinkers; we just enjoy good wine. We continued inside and were underwhelmed by the set up. Whoever did their website really knew how to show only the best. We did a tasting and were surprised to find a couple of wines that we liked. The staff member was very friendly and informative making the experience better than we were expecting when we pulled up. It just did not seem like a full time operation, but the wine was pretty good. We left with three bottles of wine. I would no say to skip this winery, but just don’t have your hopes up that it is anything like the website. Enjoy and drink safe.
Stopped by a day before Mother's Day. What a great idea. The tasting was wonderful. Our guide explained the grapes and how each wine was made. He explained what foods go with each wine. Very educational wine tasting. The wines were very tasty. Key lime wine was a favorite! Recommend this winery to all who want to try something different!
Finally, after saying "we should stop at the wine tasting" we did it. We took the little road off State Road 52 for about a "country" mile or so to the Florida Estates Winery in rural Land O' Lakes after a fine luncheon in Dade City. Two women were visiting the winery when we arrived, chatted with the attendant, purchased wine and left. We walked around the small establishment then tasted locally made Florida wines and purchased two bottles, one a dry white, the other citrus orange. The lady managing the winery was pleasant. We had an enjoyable visit. I did expect more. The last three hurricanes that came onto the West Coast of the state wiped out their vineyards, making it necessary to move the vines into the middle of the state. Not having vineyards to eye while wine tasting is disappointing, but still the stop was worthwhile,
An old house in the middle of an old farm with no grape vines or even any wine equipment. A hurried lesson on the basics of their wines.
Small old house with a knowledgeable owner that gives a colorful tasting. Some unusual wines to taste using special grape types. Only been a winery some decade and the outside looks simple and not like an "estate". We thought a well used morning to visit this.
Well, we were going to go to the "festival", but there were literally 3 tents under some oak trees with some plastic chairs. Needless to say, we did not stop. How is this an "Estate Winery" when there are no vineyards, or an estate? It's literally a small house. I would suggest looking elsewhere, maybe they have good wine, if so it would probably be sold in Publix.
Fiancé wanted to surprise me and while I was surprised he was more. First time for him at winery and he enjoyed the wine testing, host and lesson on wine. He did not enjoy the fact there were no other perks such as vineyard, horse, vendors etc for which is shown on website. we did purchase a great wine. For me travel was too long for no perks such as tours etc.
