What a wonderful experience. Absolutely worth a visit, really lovely folks, very knowledgable and fun. The wine was amazing, unbelievable tastes, the Black Tea was my favorite. We took home a selection case and will definitely be back for more.
Coming from central NY where winery tours is becoming an Olympic sport I could not have been more impressed about my visit to bunker hill!!!Larry and Leonora are magnificent stewards of this earth. The deep desire to produce a heathy, sustainable product all whole educating the public about what and how they do it. Amazing. Awesome. Fantastic. From all the samples of the yummy whole fruit wines to the tour do the wine cave and property. Love love love. Been there more than four times and learn something new every time. This place is one of my all time favorites to bring out of town visitors!!!
We love visiting wineries and this one is the best. They are "green" oriented and recycle and conserve. The wine is made from their on grapes and fruit from their property or grown locally. They have, in season, citrus wines, elderberry, dandelion, watermelon wines. The wines are unfiltered and taste amazing. This is a can't miss. By the way the owners are 5th generation Manatee County and are so great!
This winery is awesome, it's a must see. The wines are very tasty, we bought quite a few. Oh, and if you're sensitive to ghosts, there's plenty to see and/feel.
We took a visit to the Bunker Hill Vineyard & Winery. Being typical Florida weather in the Summer, a downpour hit just as we arrived. But Lenore met us at our car with umbrellas. After we got inside, they seated us for a complimentary wine tasting. The wines are not traditional, but we found them very good. They have a number of fruit wines, among others, that vary with the season. We enjoyed the strawberry wine, along with some of the other rose, red, and white wines. All were quite tasty. For a unique wine, try their black tea wine. Tastes like tea. One of their specialities is dandelion wine but they were out of it for the season. However, Lenore did give me a small sample from her stash. Enjoyable visit.
What a wonderful afternoon we had at Bunker Hill Vineyard & Winery. I have a friend in town, and we just had a miserable experience in Sarasota, and we wanted something happy to do, so I pulled out my tablet and mapped to Bunker Hill. So glad we stopped! The owners, Lenora and Larry, were very personable, as was Christy, who handled our wine tasting. She was very knowledgeable, and very friendly. We felt like we were visiting friends! The wine was excellent, we were able to sample quite a few. Liked them all! The dandelion wine ROCKS! I had read reviews which said to get over there and try it before it was gone, and I am so glad that we did. We came home with 6 bottles! I will be visiting again!
The owners are very accommodating and make you feel right at home. Free wine tasting with real stemware and assorted crackers and snacks. Organic wine using recycled wine bottles and corks - wine is made with fruits native to Florida. Groups are welcome, they even have weddings on their grounds.
A wonderful experience. Lenora and Larry gave us a warm welcome to their winery educating us in the knowledge and taste of their organic wines. Their wines are made from seasonally grown fruit and taste quite different from the usual wines I usually enjoy drinking. Can totally recommend a visit, take along your reusable wine carriers to take home some of their exciting produce.
My sister and brother in law from Grand Forks were visiting Tami and I and on Saturday I suggested a drive in the country. I did not say we were going but our guests were surprised when I drove up to the winery. There was also wedding that was being set up for later in the day. We were set down at long tasting tables and were given several tastes of wine. Taste tested orange, grapefruit, dandelion, mango, red and white wines. Left with a few bottles including our favorite of the day, Mango.
They have one wine "sandy hill" which I thought was exceptional. The problem is due to a limited harvest it's only one bottle per customer. The tour of the aging "cave" was the best winery tour I have ever had. The owners are very knowledgeable environmentalist. They waste nothing, we will be giving them all our empty wine bottles from now on.We will return very few months since they are very seasonal with their offerings
If you love good wine, this is a priority stop. The first time I stopped by this amazing vineyard and winery I wasn’t sure what to think as I approached it on the road. Driving up the driveway I automatically liked the small vineyard feel, and felt very comfortable getting out and walking around. I was quickly greeted by Lenora who went and got Larry to show me around. I told them how I was just starting to get into wine and Larry quickly took me under his wing to show me the ins and outs of how the whole process works. You know the type of people that make you feel like you are member of the family right after meeting them? The Woodham’s are that kind of couple; huge hearts, great people but most importantly why we visit…amazing wine. I have will and do recommended this winery to every person I know that visits wineries. The variety and quality have kept me coming back.
Larry and Lenora will welcome you like a good friend. They are genuine, hard working people that make great wines with their own hands. They release new wines the first of every month and many are limited editions. The wines are excellent and the fruit wines are made with whole fruits so you get many of the healthy benefits. Bring your empty wine bottles from any variety. They recycle them. They will also recycle all your old corks and wax. They truly love what they do and it she's in the quality of the wine. Try the lemon for a refreshing summer wine and the Forest Keeper white is awesome!
Excellent wines, red, white and many fruit wines. Filtered by gravity over a years time, no filetrs usedA "Geen"winery, wonderful couple, friendly, who own it. and many samples. Return your empty bottles. corks, even wax. all will be used again
In the middle of nowhere, is a lovely vineyard and winery owned by Lenora and Larry, whose passion for their products and a green, sustainable business is palpable. In two hours, that flew by like a few minutes, we learned so much about wine making and tasting, regulations, sustainability. From the the reason for Quonset huts Tasting Room Wine Cave to how the fruit is harvested to the cycle of varieties, the conversation is spellbinding. These folks are amazing hosts. They know their stuff, they have done the research, and their commitment makes the world a better place. One small family owned business doing so much for the environment, for wildlife, for education, truly making a difference. We arrived looking for something to do on a Sunday afternoon, and left feeling that we have made wonderful new friends. Oh yes, and they make very fine wines.Check out their website because it is full of information, more than I could ever include here. Be sure to read about the antics of the resident ghost, Gerald with a "G"; the recycling program; the wildlife habitat, etc. We will definitely make the trip again soon -- when the new wines are available. The case I bought should need replenishing by then.
