Barkley Square is the best DOG PARK in this vicinity, there is a sign with the Park Rules: No mean dogs allowed, bags available for poop scoop-ups, small dogs on the left side and large friends on the right, plus other important information. It opens from Sunrise to Sunset, there is plenty of room to run, 14 acres of fenced in area that is always well maintained, plus the pool (small lake). This is my dog's favorite place to go, he runs over and sniffs small dogs through the fence then ventures around eventually jumping into the pool for a cool off before another run. There's drinking water, rinse off area or $10.00 dog wash. Good parking lot, just be sure to take a towel or cover the seat in your car where your loved one rides home. I take my leash just to make sure he's ready to go when I am, I stay fairly close while he's running free also beware when a lot of dogs start getting together because once a little fight started but was quickly stopped by us owners. Your dog will love it plus you get to meet other beautiful dogs and their masters. (:)
My dog Mikey loves Barkley Square. They have both a large and small dog side and both are very large. They also supply bags to clean up after your dog. This is a very nice and very large dog park.
Both my dog and I love this park. There are two seperate sections in the park, one is for large breed dog and the other is for smaller. The large park has great runing area and a pond for dogs that love the water. The smaller is a few acres with plenty of room for your dog to run with hills and trees. The park is very well maintained and the fencing is kept in great shape to prevent dogs from breaking out. Has drinking stations and bags and waste areas to keep the park clean. Also a dog washing station on site to clean your dog if they have had serious fun. Benchs are also inside the area so you can sit and let your dog frolick. Plenty of parking is available. On entering the dog area the fence work is set up properly with a holding area for your dog that will allow them time to get acquanted with the other dogs as well as for the safety and security of dogs entering and exiting the park. Have found the people who come to the park and the dogs to be very friendly. There are two time out pens in case there are issues with dogs, but have never seen these being used as the people when I have attended all have friendly nonaggressive dogs. Do have to be deligent to check dogs for fleas as this tends to be a problem in this area where it never really gets cold. Overall a great place to spend safe time with your dog.
This is a fully fenced park with a lined pond as its centerpiece. It is less shady than some parks, which may be problematic at the height of a Florida summer, but dogs who want to stretch out and run or play frisbee will be in heaven. The pond has a little stand of cattails and several walk in points.Pros: parking, pond, sheer acreage, nice bathing station.Cons: awkward entrances/exits (long chutes), lack of shade.
Deland should be proud of this venue. The park has 14 acres for Fido to romp around and make new friends. My boy fell in love with a poodle! They have the park separated so the little dogs won't be intimadated by the big dogs. However, the water is on the large dog side. For most dogs this is the best part as they can run around the big pond, swim, play fetch, and then roll around in the sand. If your pup ditches you feel free to take a walk as the area is very nice and there are benches scattered around to kick back and relax. Yes, there are restrooms and watering stations so take advantage of this beautiful, free outdoor space with your pup(s)
This place is fantastic. The dogs love and the park goers love it. We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful facility in the Deland area.
The park is divided into 5 areas. 1- one acre area for the training or introduction to the park. 2 "time-out" areas attached to the two main areas, dogs under 25lbs and over 25 lbs. the big dog park has a pond. There are free shower and watering stations. Oak trees are throughout the park! Benches and all are handicapped accessible. There is a pay "dog bath" booth. Put this on your list if you travel with fido. Make sure all vaccines are up to date. I recommend Bortedella, (Kennel cough). Dogs must be restrained from vehicle to fence enclosure, the no leash inside dog area. Children are allowed but must have supervision.
Great dog park in DeLand. TONS of space for your dog to run around. The second my dog walks in she runs all over the place. Great chance for them to get exercise.
This is a gorgeous dog park that is very well maintained and has a great clientele. The dogs are generally very social and well-mannered, with the exception of a rogue snapper on occasion (to be expected at a dog park).Very spacious with a pond in the middle. Best to keep your furry child out of the pond in the very hot months, only due to a collection of nasty algae, but otherwise it's just fine. Benches for seating are placed sporadically throughout the park, and there is plenty of room for everyone to have his own little corner. The small dog side is lovely as well, with lots of shade and benches for sitting. This park also has doggie water fountains and a bath station.
The park is great as it is hilly and it gives exercise to both dog and person. My dogs love this park, and love swimming in the water. Bathrooms are clean and the park isn't clean which is very important.
What a treasure this place is to take your dogs. It have so much room and is such a good facility. Take your Dog and go out to see and enjoy.
