This lake is very beautiful with its still water and rock outcroppings. Lots of photo opportunities, great trails for hiking and a large gazebo that can be reserved for family gatherings or special occasions. Very well kept and clean.
We walked around the lake and it is beautiful. We had a great time and loved taking pictures and looking at the great rock formations. Close to town but worth a special trip.
$2 car entrance fee to get into the park. The views and the lake were beautiful. Nice hiking, but I would say our hike was a moderate level hike. We took a little loop that took us shoreline to the lake, and that was pretty fun... saw wildlife, plants, and interesting rock (quartz) in the ground.. Only spent about an hour or so.. definitely want to go back for a longer hike!
It's an easy hike and you can make it more fun by bouldering or rock climbing. If you're in the area, definitely stop by. I wish I had more time to spend there though
Rent a kayak and ride around amongst the boulders and wildlife. Beautiful and peaceful surroundings while getting a decent workout. Check that the rentals are open or buy yourself your own.
We have been to Watson Lake several times but never took the time to go to Willow Lake, until this past week. Oh my! it is a great lake for kayaking and birding. I strongly recommend it.
Exploring the granite dells was a ton of fun for everyone in our group. If you don't have your own it definitely worth renting.
Nice trail to walk around the lake. Very peaceful place to enjoy the sounds of nature and meet locals out fishing or doing the same.
Kayaks, Canoes, Mountain Bikes and Hikers were all enjoying the day. I enjoyed a beautiful photographic experience.
We visited Watson Lake on the way to Jerome mid-morning. The parking was easily accessible and once you go over a hill in the entrance, you see the beauty immediately. There were many people unloading kayaks and also sitting along the banks. The parking is ample and there are numerous overlooks around the lake. We didn't do the lake loop trail as we didn't have time, but we hiked for about an hour just on one side of the lake (nearest to the far parking area). Trails were well-marked but at times we got off on other man-made trails that led to overlooks, however that's a pleasant surprise. It's definitely worth the stop, even if just for a picnic. I think I remember paying $2 to park, but that's a drop in the bucket for your views.
There are so many lakes that we can go and look at, the question often is what makes any of them special.Easy answer for Watson - the rocks which form part of the lake infrastructure. Very impressive.
Trails all over. We love the rocks, the scenery! Trails not always well marked. We got sidetracked and lost the trail numerous times. The views were worth getting lost, however!
So glad we stopped here. It just looks like any other lake from the highway. However, just a minute after turning off the highway, the rocky terrain around this lake is visible... and gorgeous! We definitely plan on returning with our kayaks. Nice park and trails. It appeared they also had frizbee golf, horseshoes and bocce ball court. BONUS: Wednesday is free day! The rest of the time there is a $2 parking fee.
We took the Watson Lake Loop trail, listed about 4.8 miles, and ended up walking close to 6 after wandering off the trail several times, including a big detour at the beginning. The views are fantastic -- the granite dells are very unique -- just keep an eye on trail markers. Highly recommended.
Beautiful Lake with a nice established path. Informational signs about the birds near the parking area and well marked trails surround the lake.
