Beautiful day, friendly staff, my sweetheart & a very interesting layout. The golf was a challenge. It really needs some work. The rate told the story... $24.95 included lunch. The lunch was great by the way.

I have golfed this course many times over the last 20 years and it was always one of my favorites.. Unfortunately the last couple years things have changed for the worst. It's a great layout with some beautiful views. Hopefully someone will take it over and return it to it's prior condition. They are priced very reasonable but you should expect poor conditions and slow play since the cost to play is getting people to give it a shot. A real shame for what use to be a wonderful course for a good price.. Hopefully by next year you will see upgrades as they say they are working on it.. Trent Jones designed course

Course is not in good shape but you don't pay much either. Greens were not in good shape and putting was difficult.

Course is in poor condition at best, they are working on it but you should check it out before you go!

This course was part of a stay and golf at a "Trent Jones" designed course. The pictures of the course on the groupon offer were very misleading. The groupon was $149 for a room and 18 holes of golf a southern Arizona resort. It turned out to be an old hotel with old rooms(not historic, just old). The groupon is not worth the gas to get there. The sand traps were rock hard and the driving range was literally a field with no tee box area.

we stayed at the Esplendor hotel - which was terrible. My husband went golfing and didn't finished. He said the grass was so tall off the fairway that he lost 15 balls and didn't finish. The whole hotel/golf report was the worst we've seen.

Very nice course design. Probably a real jewel in the desert when it opened 40 years ago. Needs a major cash infusion to remodel clubhouse & repair the course. Many of the greens were in terrible shape & very slow to put on. Fairway lies were "down & dirty" most of the time. On the plus side, very little traffic means you get to have the course to yourself on weekdays. Also a wonderful place to take in lots of unusual birds.

The course is layed out very nicely and you can tell that it's ahd some financial problems but they are on the way back and I'm glad as it is a very nice course with challenges but not overwhelming.

The course was pleasantly challenging and the staff were accommodating. Greens were being reseeded but were still playable. Great place to meet locals!

This was our second year to visit this golf course and our round came as part of a hotel package deal. The fairways are poor and the greens even worse. Would not waste time going here when there are so many better courses in the area. These best part was the food in the clubhouse.

Unfortunately the golf course was in very poor condition. Needs a lot of maintenance. I am sure it has seen it's day and could be revived with lots of tender loving care.

This course has a lot of potential. Whomever owns this needs to dump some money into this place to get this course looking at least average to good. The greens were in horrible shape. The golf cart path had major potholes and at many places just ended and you ended up on grass. The sand traps were more dirt than sand and had grass growing in them. Never saw the beverage cart. Thank God we brought our own booze! But where else could you play in the middle of winter in AZ for only $25? Oh and the bathrooms… disgusting! Looks like they haven't been cleaned in the past month. I'm guessing summer should be free! It's truly a shame that this course looks like this since it could be so beautiful. It does have gorgeous mature trees lining the course with breathtaking mountain views.

Head to Rio Rico. Hopefully get a great rate on Golfnow.com. You can easily walk this course. Five tees give everyone in your group a shot at a good score. You can right away this was designed by someone who knew what they were doing. Robert Trent Jones dialed it in back in 1969-70. It is a classic "muscle car" design from RTJ. The course has had some rough couple of years but is on the comeback. Greens are on the mend and the whole course is coming back. Pro shop crew is welcoming...how refreshing! No houses on the course, quiet, lots of birding shots and a bobcat escorted us down the 18th fairway last time out. Don't hesitate to book a tee time at Rio Rico.

For the price, this was a great deal but we came right after the monsoons and the grass was a little high into part of the fairways. Beautiful course with mature trees.

Just took my son there for three days of golfing (October 2013). Course needs some work (traps and some greens), but staff is working hard to rectify. Front 9 were great but back 9 needs more attention. Very nice staff and fellow golfers were friendly. Great place to go for the buck. Can't wait to go next year and see the improvements! Lot's of wildlife to be seen, even a stray cow or two on the course make for an interesting day! Props to the Henderson brothers for thier hard work in turning the course around from a near bankrupt property to a very playable course!
