Camp here often. Off the interstate and level large wooded lots. Many on the lake. Park staff and office are awesome. Geocaching is plenty fun in the park and area. Eatat Hot rods or the Caboose if camp food has you down. Golf and many other things to do. Beach in the summer and tons of trails!

We camp here often in our travel trailer and enjoy it every time. The sites are size specific and have wonderful wooded views. Comfort stations are always clean and plenty to do at the park on the hiking trails and they have mountain bike trails with differing degrees of difficulty. I would recommend this camp ground to anyone other than the "big rig folks".

I recently went to Hard Labor Creek for a church retreat. I was amazed at how clean and cozy the cabins are. Very inexpensive and well worth they money. The rooms had two doubles in them which are very comfortable. The living room had an updated tv. Normally when you think of a state park you think dirty or rundown. That was not the case with these cabins. It was kept up well. We had 5 different cabins rented and all 5 were very nice. I recommend trying this place if you are looking to get a way and not spend a lot of money. It has a fully equipped kitchen so you can cook. My experience was very pleasurable and I look forward to the trip next year!

First off, one of the prettiest golf courses I have seen at a state park. I didnt get to play, but I wish I would have brought the clubs and will if we go again. The campsites are very spaced out for some really private areas to camp and are all level with tables and fire rings. most have a second area for extra tents as well. However the park itself is kinda spread out over 3 areas so wallikng say from your camp to the lake is not really possible. not a lot to do there as far as walking trails or sites to see that we could find. And phone service and wifi are nonexistent, except for at the check in center, so download any maps or things you may need before you get to the park

I have only visited the park once, but my husband and children have spent the night with their Scout group. There are no specific complaints we could make about this park. However, know that if you're not visiting to play golf, it has the potential to be rather boring. You could take a short drive to historic Madison, Ga. Or you could dine in Social Circle. But that is about it in terms of nearby attractions. Athens is still a 45 minute drive away. I prefer to camp in the North Georgia Mountains, where at least the trails and scenery provide a welcome diversion.Yet there is one amenity that sets this park apart from the others. There is an observatory on site, run by the Georgia State Astronomy Department. Once a month they open their doors to the public, free of charge. Visitors can peer through several of high-tech telescopes, with astronomers on hand to answer any questions. They also set up a handful of tripod telescopes in the yard for more viewing. Visit http://www.chara.gsu.edu/HLCO/openhouse.html for schedules and general information. Just be aware that you may have to contend with groups of college students who visit to fulfill their class requirements. Even so, it's a fantastic experience for budding scientists and seasoned stargazers alike.

We rented a two bedroom cabin for two nights while visiting the Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta. The park was approx. 1 1/2 hour drive from the golf course, which was better than any other accommodations we could find at a reasonable price. Our room was very spacious with a full kitchen, fully equipped, a large eating area and sitting/t.v. area. There were two bedrooms with two double beds in each. Four or five men could easily share these cabins and be very comfortable, making the cost very reasonable. We ate meals in the area in Madison, approx. 15 mins. away. Nice selection of pretty good restaurants. All staff at the park and at the various establishments in Madison were very friendly. All-in-all, a great stay in a typical state park cabin.

Beautiful Location, well kept and very nice staff. Golf Course is fun and well maintained, can get soggy along creek in rain season. Hope Golf is what you went for, as there is not much to do in this location. If your going to relax and camp this is the place, but not much else to do. again, beautiful location and relaxing.

We threw my dad a surprise 65th birthday at Hard Labor Creek. To pull this off, we rented 2 cabins. Dad was in cabin 6, while his party was in cabin 20. Cabin 6 was very nice. Fairly updated and clean. Cabin 20 was not. The floor was very dirty, with cracked and missing tiles. The appliance were old and outdated. The furniture was big, clunky, very worn and some pieces were broken. The beds however were VERY comfortable! The best thing about cabin 20 is the view. We were about 150-200 feet from the lake. You couldn't see the lake from the other cabins. BTW...There is NO cell service, 10 TV channels, and VERY limited Wifi...but you ARE supposed to be camping, so...

This was a nice state park with very reasonable rates. We were just a bit disappointed with the lack of things for us to do with a four year old. This park is not located near any nearby town to do anything in. We don't golf, nor do we have a horse and this park is truly dedicated to these two hobbies. With that said, this park is very large, and very spread out with ONE dumpster to accomadate the camping section, with NO trash cans in between. To haul off daily trash was a car trip....Just not the most convenient park that we've stayed at and unlikely to return to this one.

We enjoyed our 1 night camping trip at this state park. We were able to go to the observatory and go hiking. It was our first experience with "pick your own" campsite. The first sight we chose did not accommodate our 16x16 ft tent. However, there were plenty of other spaces to choose from.

We have camped at Hard Labor Park many times now and we always know where we wish to back the RV in. As it is a 31 foot with a mega-slide, we have to be careful on the sites that are available. Most state parks will not accommodate such large rigs but this one does. Corp of Engineers campsites are our favorite but "Hard Labor" is right up there with them. We especially like the cable hookup for TV. It always works even when our cell phones don't. When you are camping, who needs a phone?

Clear cutting should not be allowed in a state park. Seeing the damage made me feel sick and not want to return.

We had a good time when my Granddaughter camped for her Birthday with her Pony! WE thought we would take her out for a short hand walked ride and she ended up having us walk 5 plus miles.

Visited to see RV sites. They are huge and fairly easy to back into. Very pleasant people host park and run facility. Can't wait to try it next season.
