We are big fans of the movie Sweet Home Alabama, so we toured the filming locations. Had a great time exploring the grounds. It was Spring Break so there were no tours… had to pay the full amount even though we didn't get to see the inside. Still a great experience.

Marth Berry was single, and a visionary. She loved children, especially the children of the mountains, the ones that didn't have much of a chance for greatest. But she changed all that, by creating and teaching in a small log house school on the land at would become Berry College. Oak Hill, her fathers beautiful home, and the Martha Berry Museum ( located on the same property) give you a glimpse into her life and the changes she bought about for many students and their families, a tradition that continues today.Tip #1. Oak Hill is the beautiful family home, and was used in the filming of Sweet Home Alabama. Tip #2. Berry College is only a few miles away and well worth the time to visit. (The Ford family, as in Henry, donated one of the spectacular dorms located on campus.)Tip #3. the famous Berry Eagles are located high in a tree on campus and have their own web cam for constant viewing. (As of today, March 4, 2015, there are two eaglets nesting!!)

My husband and my best friend visited the house and museum. Both were excellent. Beth Ann was our student guide. She took her time and and answered our questions. She took us thru the gardens and the bridal walk. Loved her stories about Aunt Martha. Really made the home come alive. The college campus is beautiful. This is a must see in Rome. Well worth the money to visit this home.

There is a great deal of history here, not only the history of Berry College, but of Rome and the Floyd County area.. The grounds are beautiful and well cared for. Berry College always does things in an excellent manner, and Oak Hill is just another example.

Had a very interesting tour of Martha Berry's house and gardens by one of the students which we thought was excellent. Also enjoyed seeing the American Bald Eagles and very impressive wooden mill wheel.

Oak Hill occupies a beautiful piece of NE Georgia. We arrived late in the day so missed the last guided tour but walked the grounds anyway. The formal gardens are wonderful, even in mid October. The museum had very good paintings by an American Impressionist with whom we weren't familiar.

Beautiful. the mill is charming and the deer run wild on the campus. A fairytale like wooded setting.

For a great day trip visit the Martha Berry Museum and Berry College. You will learn a lot about the local history and enjoy the campus of the college. The city of Rome is a very beautiful city know as the city of seven hills. The city has a great river front and historic churches and homes.

We drove the grounds of the college looking for the museum and after calling the museum we found it right around the corner from the college. The museum tells the story of Martha Berry but the house tour $5.00 was worth the money. The house was left in tact and houses all original furnishings except for carpets and window treatments. I would have enjoyed more history on the house and more of an opportunity to view the furnishings. The outside gardens were beautiful! Then after hearing more about the campus we went back. We saw about 40 deer and the old mill (awesome)!

Beautiful home and gardens, and interesting museum. My daughter will be attending Berry College, so we wanted to learn all we could about Martha Berry. Fabulous to see where this amazing woman lived, and contemplate a simpler time. Sweet Home Alabama was also filmed here, for you movie buffs. I visited in the winter, and it was gorgeous even then. I can't imagine how incredible it must look in the spring and summer with trees and flowers abloom. There's my excuse to visit again!

My husband and I were visiting Rome to see a concert and decided to stay the weekend. We visited the museum and it was so interesting to learn about Martha Berry's life and how the college was created. The tour guides were wonderful and gave us so much information about her life. Her home and gardens are so beautiful. If you have time visit the college too. The museum will provide you with a map upon request. They will show you all of the spots to tour.

I have been to The Berry Museum many time in my 46 yrs and have aquainted all my children with the vast rich history of the Berry college campus and the little community that use to exsist on the campus call Possum trot where my grandparent spent their childhood and remember Miss Berry making trips out to visit the children of Possum Trot. My Great-Grandfather is even in the movie that is shown at the museum.

This place is certainly more than worth checking out. There is no place in the world quite like Mt. Berry, GA. I am intimately acquainted with Oak Hill and the Berry campus and definitely think it's worth an extended look-see if you're ever in the area. For a pauper such as myself, it's mind boggling to think of the wealth controlled by Ms. Berry and what she managed to do with it.
