Pop up camped on the water. The lots were all on the water. The office was great and carried many RV needs. The hosts were also very nice. Playground and boat ramps. Trails were great as was the geocaching. The bathhouse was clean also. Will be back!

I was here for the Memorial Day Weekend. The campgrounds are clean and kept in great shape. The bathroom facilities are not as fancy as some of the other parks in the state, but they are more than adequate. The rangers and park staff patrol the area frequently and are very friendly. The place is quiet and very peaceful. And with beautiful sunrise/sunsets like these, what's not to like about this park?

Here for a bluegrass festival with another couple. First visit. We lucked out with our campsite. There were just finishing a complete renovation of several lakefront sites and we got there at just the right time. Large lake and many of the sites have a great view over the lake. Almost all sites have at least a filtered view of the lake. Bathrooms and showers are old, but clean and OK. Wi-fi is only available at the camp office, a minor annoyance. We got good cell phone reception with Verizon, but our friends and me with my iPad got nothing with AT & T. If you are a boater or fisherman with your own boat (ramp in the park) it would be a wonderful place to camp. We enjoyed ourselves immensely.

We stayed in cabin while attending festival, nice ,clean, quite wonderful park. We will definitely come back

I wanted to make a post about this State Park being next weekend will by my 4th Family Reunion which has been held at this camp. The camp is a perfect place for our large family to meet. We rent about 12 of the cabins and some family members rent Camper/RV Sites. We always stay for 3 days and 2 nights. On Saturday we rent one of the two Group Shelters, usually we rent the Beach House but our family has outgrown it and now we are using the large facility which holds 175 people. We do visit this part in the slower/colder part of the year and pretty much have the part to our selves. However my individual family has returned to tent camp and the park was completely full and everything was still awesome. The Staff and Camp Rangers are very nice and very friendly and helpful with my kids. When my family visited in the summer time we visited the historical cabin and learned about the history of the park and the cabin. The historian also showed us how to use a cotton wheel. I highly recommend this camp and I drive 3 hours to get there from Savannah, GA.

We brought our 2 yr old grandson here for a Blue Grass festival in Sept. Yes it is a rural area but we had read that from TA so we were prepared. Loved the abundance of water sites and how level. We stayed in campground 1 just past the end of the first point. Oh what a spectacular sunset both nights and so different each time. Our grandson went to office and heard all about the snakes and could get almost nose to nose with them and the turtles. He enjoyed the play ground as well. We enjoyed the replica historical cabins. The lady worker dressed in period clothes made it informative. We also like state parks having musical festivals. The staff here wasn't all about running you out by exactly check out time which dang it is nothing but rude when you have an empty park. Enjoyed being able to get an ice cream at office too for the little one since we don't travel with that. We will be back.

We have camped at Elijah Clark State Park for 25 years and can't find any other parks that we would prefer to camp at. We love the water view sites and easy access to the lake (and to our boat). We've seen the changes in the park staff, some for the better and some for the worse. However, it seems that they're striving to make the park better with what little resources they have. Other parks have closed up around the area and I'm so thankful that they're trying to keep Elijah Clark alive!!! Over the years word has gotten out to Effingham County & Chatham County folks how nice of a park it is and they drive the 3+ hours to camp at the park as well. We know the best areas of Clark's Hill Lake to boat in and we just can't seem to get enough of it. We raised our kids here and they have to go back every year as well! I wish we lived closer!Don't forget to visit Clark Hill Dam, which is about a 20 minute drive from Elijah Clark State Park. If you have never seen this dam, you're missing a spectacular view! We like to go by car and visit the Lake office and Visitor's Center, but we also like to go by boat. We enjoy the lake ride!

We traveled to this popular state park over this past Memorial Day weekend. We are seasoned TENT campers and met our family up there that were using a pop-up. We know to expect crowds and cluttered campgrounds this time of year but were pretty disappointed with our trip.- .... this state park is in the middle of nowhere. No cell, no or very little GPS signals. Closest grocery store is 8-10 miles away in either Lincolnton, GA or McCormick, SC. Make SURE you have all the necessities before you get there.- ... upkeep of the comfort stations was at a bare minimum. Both camping areas were completely booked so you would expect high traffic in the bath houses. Mens and Ladies room were constantly out of toilet paper and paper towels. Hand driers sporadically worked. Showers were filthy with hair and soap scum even after "cleaning". It appeared they were just sprinkling the floor with Ajax or something and not even mopping. On a side note, the welcome center bathroom was in equally poor condition. Very unclean. Didn't look like trash had been taken out in a while and there was a puddle of soap from the dispenser on the floor that remained there throughout our stay.-... there wasn't a whole lot to do unless you had a boat. (and there were a LOT of boats). Boat ramps are located in the campground areas. Be prepared to hear diesel engine trucks hauling their boats to the ramp at 5am. The park has a 3/4 mile nature trail and a 3 mile hiking trail. There is an Elijah Clarke museum which is pretty interesting and the tour guide is very knowledgeable. There is mini golf and a playground near the office.- .... campground itself was fairly clean. We are used to fire pits and such being cleaned out in between guests. (not a big deal to us, but some others were complaining of garbage left at their site).... the majority of campers had trailers and motor homes. There is water and electricity at every site and we were told cable was as each site as well. There is no foliage or many trees between campsites so there is no privacy from your neighbors. Most sites have a nice view of the water even if you're not directly in a site on the bank. Absolutely GORGEOUS sunset each night.-.... there is a fairly large fishing dock and a several day use areas. As I said, this is a very popular campground but I really think it's geared more towards boaters and rv'ers.

Enjoyed two nights at Elijah Clark State Park. Nice campsites, great view of the water and sunrise/sunset. Clean restrooms (though could use updating), nice visitor center. Many pull through sites and nice space between sites to give some privacy. Cable TV even.

Elijah Clark State Park suffers from the same ailmene all our area parks are suffering............cutbacks and lack of improvements. Elijah Clark has more to offer than other parks in the area but unless things get better soon I am afraid attendance will suffer greatly

Stayed at Elijah Clark State Park over Thanks Giving 2012, stayed in cabin 1, standard GA state park cabin, two bedrooms, one bath. Nice kitchen, and dining area.. has everything so no need to bring anything.. except food to cook.. outside grill too.. lake view is limited since the lake level is really low.. has only two trails to walk, which is limited.. but overall not bad.. well suited for boats.. if you have boat it is a very good park to visit.. lots of RV camping.. drove around it.. very nice facilities.. right on the lake.. not much wildlife, such as deer or other animals, at least I didn't see any..saw some turtles on the lake bank.. cabin has flat screen tv with 15 channels not bad, to watch at night.. has fire place. we didn't have fire.. easiest way to get there is on I-20 from Atlanta..not sure if we would go back to this place to go somewhere else.. no place to eat close by.. which is limiting.. we like to eat at local places.. didn't seem very bike friendly since there were no bike lanes or bike paths.. not much to do once you are there but to watch the grass grow..

Elija Clark is a nice Georgia State Park on Lake J.. Strom Thurmond. most of the sites are on the water or have views of the water. If this park had full hookups Water/Sewer/Electric I would go here much more often.

We stayed here only one night as we are on our way to Savannah. This is a very large park & not too many people were here this time of the year. They say it's extremely busy in the summer. The lake is beautiful but is very low right now. There are many pontoon boats on the lake & we saw fellas fishing. Didn't check anything else out as we came in late & left fairly early this morning.This is a LARGE campground & all the outside sites are by the water. Than there is the middle section for sites that has a view of the water. With just the few campers this time of the year the restrooms were busy. I can't imagine what it would be like when more campers are there. FAR TOO CROWDED is my thought. We stayed in campground 1 & that restroom needed HELP! The ladies shower area needed a GOOD SCRUBBING & needed to be scrubbed down with Clorox. Even the tile walls were full of soap sum. The floor and the corners in the toilet section needed a good cleaning as well. The water was hot & they did have heat which was GREAT! It was 48 this morning.We've stayed at several other GA State Parks & this one was our least favorite. ECSP needs more restroom facilities and needs to update the existing facilities. There is NO division or foliage between sites. Therefore, you aren't private. But, the camp grounds are clean.We would probably not stay here again unless I read the future reviews and the facilities have changed.

If you're into camping on a big lake, Elijah is a place you need to check out. From full hookup sites to boat ramps to picnic pavillons, to fishing piers, to volley ball and on and on this Ga park has it all.

There were not any people at the park when we went. It is clean but they need more bathrooms. We got in free with the state park pass you can check out from your local library.
