The turnoff for this falls was hard to find and then you enter a neighborhood which seems strange but you keep on driving til you see the sign for the waterfall but I would not call it a parking lot but more like parking on the side of the road. The trail could be marked better. It was a very short trail and the waterfall has 2 levels, The first one is more of a rush of water but the taller waterfall is quite nice. We also did Volga state park on the same day.
Short hike to the falls, beautiful. Even kids were able to hike easily to the large, well-maintained platform near the upper falls.
Not very difficult hike, but worth seeing. Take your time and you will enjoy hearing the sounds and smells of the forrest in the Fall. Leaves are so nice in mid/ late October.
There is about a 1 mile drive to the parking and then a hike down man made stairs. This is not a place for wheel chairs or those with medical conditions,. it is not rugged but not set up for those who have a problem walking or climbing. The walk is well worth the trip. The falls begins at a very high level on the mountain and then comes down to a second level. Both can be seen from observation posts on the side of the falls. Beautiful scenery any time of the year, Dress warm in the spring and fall..
These falls are hidden in the woods at the end of a narrow road. The walk to the double falls is about a fourth of a mile below a parking lot. Steps and platforms are placed to make the trail to the falls more accessible. Breathtaking!
Helton Creek Falls is an easy walk to beautiful Georgia falls! The path is easily maneuverable for most people. I loved finding the crystal rocks in the ground along the path. Great photo opps too!
This falls is easy to miss. But persevere and drive the very narrow dirt and bumpy road to the suggestion of a parking lot. Descend to these fals. Watch the roots and the water. At bottom hop on the rocks. Take a drink. Enjoy the changing leaves in late fall.
A lovely little waterfall with an easy trail and a protective deck for viewing. You can sit on a rock and dangle your feet in the freezing water.w
This waterfall is actually two in one ... a set of upper and lower falls, from the same short 0.2 mile trail. The hike starts from a trailhead accessible by travelling on a gravel road, and there are spots for about 10 cars, so plan accordingly.
I went over to Helton Creek Falls last week with a couple of friends. The drive to the falls is on a gravel road that winds down in the mountains for a few miles which you think will never come to an end but once you get there it is just a short walk to the falls which are out of this world. Check out attached photos
We traveled over to Helton Falls after a walk and picnic at Vogel Park. The drive is slow going and you hope you don't pass oncoming traffic. We were able to navigate fine in our mini-van. Lovely Falls.
WOW !!! The road is not for the faint of heart!!! It also had rained the day before so we were not able to go down to the falls because it was really slippery!! We were able to see the falls from our camera liens and since it had rained the night before we could not continue because the water crossing the road was really rushing and the road on the other side looked like someone had gotten stuck... The falls were beautiful though and we plan to go back when it hasn't rained
Bring the children and let them swim and slide. It is worth the walk and time spent going and coming to the falls.
Be ready to pay attention as you drive. The road starts out paved but is eventually a forest service road - one lane with lots of blind curves. Take your time. As you drive the road, the temperature will change along with the sounds. You will eventually be able to hear the rushing water. There is parking just past the walkway to the falls. There are 3 levels to these falls. Most everyone can get to the bottom & to the upper level. Getting to the top is not for everyone so don't push yourself if you don't feel you can make it. There is no cell phone service out here!Helton Creek is beautiful any time of year. We always take family & friends to these falls when they come visit. We're guaranteed they will be impressed. You can drive out the way you were headed - you don't have to go back the one lane road. The road out crosses the creek twice. The road will eventually come out on Richard Russell Scenic Pkwy.
These two falls (upper and lower) are easily accessible. The road to the falls is scenic but very narrow. It is a nice place to take visitors or photos. Cool in the summer.
