I recently went here on tour and have to say it was quite a gorgeous place with amazing views and decent hikes up the cliffs to the top. Well worth it.
St Andrea hotel is nice as us the xlendi hotel and spa, the latter bring alot cheaper. Nice restaurants and a lovely little pub. Beautiful bsy but the beach is very small if there is any, depending on how far the sea is in.
There is not a lot here, but the surroundings are quite stunning. Xlendi is a small deep inlet bay with a little sandy beach. The short prom (about 200M) has several places to eat and drink. (Can be fun in winter with the sea swirling around your chair)! There are a few shops behind the prom with plenty of car parking. There are regular buses and taxis to and from the capital Victoria. For those who enjoy walking or scrambling the cliff pathways offer great views of the bay and out to sea. If you decide you might fancy a longer visit there is the lovely st Patrick hotel.
Love xlendi and when I visit gozo I usualy stay here .small beach with access to the water from beach or the many ladders that are along the left hand side of the bay .nice safe swimming area which in the summer is buoyed off .Also great walks along both side of the bay too
We arrived late afternoon out of season. It was easy to park, there appeared to be a good bus service, there were decent public toilets, and a cash dispenser. Not many of the restaurants were open, we had a lovely ice cream. The bay is sheltered, with large cliffs, we took the cliff walk which has been paved in parts, so could be ok for buggies, or strong lpeople pushing wheelchairs. There are numerous ladders into the sea for confident swimmers. Some local hardy youths had been swimming. The views from the peninsula were lovely, the cliffs were interesting seeing all the layers, and the little fort at the end. Most of the information boards had been removed, I presume for maintenance.Plenty of places to sit and picnic tables.Worth a visit
This is a lovely place ideal for whatever you want, piece and quite or a swim or great food from one of the many restaurants around the bay or you can just sit and watch the world go by :)
Easily accessible by bus from Victoria, it offers a good swim and fabulous restaurants. May be quite crowded in the summer, especially if you want to find some shade. There is a platform for diving and the water is really clean, just enjoy swimming among the fish, but when we were there for the last time there were a few jelly fish (the locals warned us and showed us were they were). One of my favourite places for swimming.
This beautiful area is largely unspoilt with built up attractions, as restaurant and a small snack bar atop the sea and cliffs, A small boat takes you through the cave at a ridiculous price. Real fun.
We spent several days here on our honeymoon. We took public transport from the ferry terminal to this beautiful coastal village. There are several hotels and apartments so a variety to choose from. The bay is sectioned off for swimming and is really beautiful swimming amongst the fish. There is plenty of cafes and restaurants to choose from and a fabulous ice-cream parlour. My only suggestion would be that if your staying in self catering accommodation that you take provisions with you as there isn't anywhere to get anything once your in Xlendi and you have to take the bus to the next town.
When we arrived on a Tuesday in February around 4 p.m by bus (line 306 from Victoria) in Xlendi, we saw a village totally different than in most leaflets. The sun was shining, but there was a strong wind right on the harbor front. We had planned to walk around and sit somewhere with a view on the harbor, but the town seemed completely abandoned. The restaurants with a view on the sea were all closed. In a side street we found a restaurant that was open, where six older locals were sitting and talking with each other. There was a friendly waitress who brought us two cappuccino. Xlendi, it must be a beautiful town, but in the winter you are glad when the next bus arrives and you can return to Victoria.
