What a difference 3 years makes! We have been visiting Bodegas Ostatu since the 90's and were surprised by the changes we found this year. A new shop and tasting room has replaced the original entrance hall and the wood panelled dining/tasting room replaced with a modern cafe. The shop is light and well laid out showing off the fabulous wines this bodega offers to the best advantage. Well worth a visit.

We visited this family owned winery in July 2013. We felt very welcome to visit the winery from the first contact that we made by email. All the arrangements happended very fast and smoothly, and winery's Tourism Responsible, Ainhoa Navaridas, speaks excellent english. After visiting few big wineries in the rioja area, we must say that we just fell in love with Bodegas Ostatu. We chose the Winery & Vineyard Tour that included over one hour tour with an all-terrain vehicle. The tour was organized by one of the owners who explained extremely well the history and charasterics of Rioja area and wine making philosophy of Bodegas Ostatu.The tour ended in Bodegas Ostatu's recently renovated entrance hall where we could taste various of Bodegas Ostatu's wines. All their wines are expetionally good and our taste bud's loved especially Lore de Ostatu, Gloria de Ostatu and Ostatu Reserva. We bought all of these into our home cellar.We can warmly recommend Bodegas Ostatu and if you are passing Samaniego, do not miss the possibility to drop in this great winery!

Very straightforward place. Not pretentious. Don't need an appointment and you get great attention and good wine.

Ostatu is a very nice winery. You don´t need to make an appointment in advance. We taste great wine and the staff was very friendly helpful. We will come back!
