I know we live in this village and with out being bias,we had a look to see if there was a mention of Benalup with out the Hotel Golf and Spar, there wasn't which is a shame because there is so much more to this pretty little village right under your nose.Benalup Casas Viejas is located for the gateway to the Los Alcornocales Natural park and is on the route of "El Torro"( Bull breading )with a population of just over 7200 it is far from a quiet sleepy little village with something always to see and do ,it is a place often missed by visitors to both Cadiz,Jeriz and the provenance of Andalucia, but this village is a hidden jewel. With a history both good and bad particulary the 1930's,the area has been inhabited from pre-history as is revealed in the cave painting at El Arco y Cimera and the tombs carved from the rocks.Benalup is also on the route for many migrating birds. Not to be missed is the "Utopia "hotel originally built in the early 1930's it hosted the first flights from Germany to Spain for the "Zepplin" ballons it has preserved the Art Deco interior, its like a time warp and a museum is with in the building,a must visit place you'll be surprised at what you see and learn.Yes there is a Hotel golf and Spar but there is more than golf with in and on the outskirts, and I play the game, there is plenty of choice for places to eat with Tapas bars and restaurants, our preference for both value and service is the "Cafelito" friendly and outstanding service and to say the least amazing menu and value run by Paco and his wife ,its a place you won't be disappointed with a typical meal for two 10 to 15 Euro's make sure your hungry !! but enjoy
We arrived at Benalup for a pre booked round of golf and lunch with high expectations based on personal recommendation and the info we had garnered about the resort.. What a disappointment. After struggling round a poorly lit underground car park to find the entrance we found a badly signposted fire door into the building. We then discovered that the golf club, the pro's shop and the bar were all shut - this during what should be a busy time for a golf resort on the Costa del Sol. The lunch, which was expensive enough to start with, consisted of a set meal by the pool.. The place was almost empty. The golf course itself was in poor condition, and obviously suffering from lack of care and attention. It could have been lovely. There were very few staff about, and when we enquired about showers and changing rooms on our return they seemed genuinely surprised that we might need such a thing after playing golf in 80 degrees of heat for 4 hours. They assumed that we would change in the hotel loos. The amount we were charged was outrageous for the facilities on offer. If I had booked a week's holiday at the resort I would have been furious.
The best place to relax and enjoy golf. Golfers be aware strong winds in the area are normal so the course is a challenge. Wonderful big, clean and welcoming rooms. The bathroom is to die for.Food selection is limited on site and very limiting out of season. Take a trip into the local village and enjoy a Spanish welcome.
this was a very perfect excellent slissend hotel!5 stars hotelgood servicevery friendly peoplegood breakfastnice swimmingpool and golf course and spa
Such good value for money, excellent service friendly staff, very good Rioja wines. Always left the table happy and well fed but not overfaced.
Views terrific. Hotel not 4 star. Rooms large but open plan including bathroom. Understaffed but staff friendly and helpful. All inclusive did not include wine in rooms. M ajor problems with golf tee times. Food good but not a great selection.
Location & rooms excellent. Golf course attractive & enjoyable.Restaurant staff mostly difficult & argumentative to deal with. Golf bar service excluded (which was great).
this is one of my preferred course in this area. Lovely and very helpful staff at the clubhouse.
A really good golf course in a beautiful setting. Golfers of all handicaps will enjoy this track
Our group of golfers loved this hotel. Perhaps it was because we went in late October but we were all given 2 bedroom suites (even a single man) which were beautifully furnished, a round of golf with buggies, all meals and drinks for 200 euros each, which we thought was great value. The pool and spa were amazing. The golf course was a bit open and it was windy, but we enjoyed it nevertheless. Would certainly return sometime.
Uitdagende baan in top conditie.
