Based in Lloret took a bus trip to Tossa(7.5 euro for two) about 25mins drive.Beautiful castle dominating the bay.Very quiet as a lot of restaurants bar were closed.Well worth a walk around as views are fantastic.there were a couple of restaurants open on sea front was chilly and temperatures not the best in February.
Thoroughly recommend a visit to this beautiful castle. Its still in excellent condition today. Beautiful surroundings and views from all directions. Visit and let your imagination run wild
Beautiful! Do not miss a walk in the narrow and old streets of Tossa surrounded by the castle walls. Amazing!
Castillo de Tossa de Mar is a pleasant hike over the gorgeous bay with while foamed waves and huge yacht, the trees and vegetation is enchanting and gives a beautiful background and shade for a short rest or just an admiration of the spectacular view. If in the area it is a definite must do. Enjoy the charming stores and restaurant and make sure to take a dip in the cool water.
After a rather scary climb up the very high stone steps to the battlements, the views more than made up for it. I didn't take advantage of the guides that were available, preferring to wander around at my own pace, taking photographs, and admiring the stunning views over the sea and the picturesque town. Not to be missed!
What a great time for no cost. You can wander about at your own pace, take photos and admire the fantastic views. It's absolutely beautiful looking out to see and looking down on the small bay. Warning! Not good for elderly, prams, babies etc. Must wear suitable footwear!
Tossa De Mar is an amazing coastal city on the eastern coast of Spain. There are many places to eat, drink, swim and also sight see. The castillo is a lovely place to walk through and is the backdrop to this lovely town.
Tossa was interesting with a palm lined bay, like Sitges and a castle and old town at North end. Castle had several towers. As usual in January everything was closed, including the castle
This is one of the city where i want go back! Castillo de Tossa de Mar is ancient place of calm. We were there in the evening and place was filled with silence. You should do nice walk around this attracton.
We walked up from inexpensive road trains first beachside stop. The path up is not particularly steep but has a crazy paving type surface that some may find difficult. I would not recommended to anyone using a walker or wheelchair. The are plenty of photo opportunities. There is a cafe about half way up but it was not open at the time of our December midday visit. One thing to perhaps we aware of. Because it made a loop to the east to give a good view over the town & bay the road train took ½hour to reach the town coach park from the beach.
This place was lovely to walk around! It is not a long walk so suitable for most people. The scenery over the ocean was the best part for me I visited with friends and it really made my holiday being taken here!
beautiful view, very short walk do the top so you don't need to waist money of any kind of transportation to get to the top
My parents summer home was just outside this beautiful town. It is my one particular harbor. When my dad saw it for the first time he said, this is where I want to live, they bought a home. Once you visit Tossa, you will never be the same. I lived there in paradise for 6 years. Enjoy!
The old city is extremely beautiful and well maintained. Walking through the streets, you can actually feel the history this place has been a part of. Mediterranean enhances the beauty.
This castle of an old roman empire outpost perhaps today is the livelihood of 4000 inhabitants of Tossa De Mar. In the peak season, this town gets about 40000 tourists. And The castle, the beach and the old town happen to be the biggest draw. The climb up to the lighthouse can take about an hour if your pace is leisurely and you are stopping to take pictures. The view from the top is breathtaking. Nature at its pristine best. And the whole town looks great too..Our guide Angela, who also happens to own a hotel ( Hostal Cap d'or, 2nd ranked hotel on trip advisor ) is a gem of a person and a walking encyclopedia on the history of the town. She really made the trip up the castle a pleasure. Unfortunately, we took the trip at the fag end of the tourist season when half the town was closed. But that gave us the opportunity to enjoy the castle without the madding crowd. Would love to come again. And next time will ensure to stay at Cap d'or. Thanks Angela, for the great memories.
