.. still loads of beers on tap to go for. All types are catered for and the friendly, knowledgeable staff are happy to help. They have a third outlet now on Overtoom - see their website - so why not try that too.
What a place!! One of the best bars we have ever been to, so much to choose from with expert knowledge and advice from the staff, in our 6 day visit to Amsterdam we went twice, definitely a must see for any beer lovers travelling to Amsterdam
Not sure why it is down as a 'beer tasting room'. It is a bar, pure and simple. They have up to 30 Dutch beers on draught and staff will guide you to one that suits, giving you small tasters if you can't decide. Great atmosphere but it is a long and narrow bar and fills up quite easily. As well as draught, there is a large selection of bottle beer and many different flavours of Jenever to try.Well worth a visit but be wary - some of the beers are very strong so make sure you know what you are drinking. Easy to check, all beers are listed on the wall with their alcohol content noted. There are also menu books identifying all the beers. If peckish, they do small platters of cheese or sausage, or a mix of both. Didn't try them myself but they looked good and were clearly being enjoyed.
The barstaff will happily steer you to a Dutch brew that's right for your tastes. From stouts & porters to IPAs, saisons or strong beers/ ales, their chalkboard of draughts is wide ranging.
Fantastic selection of tap beers; 30 Dutch on Tap and close to 300 bottle selection. Great atmosphere and wonderful staff. Belgium has done a better job of branding themselves but Dutch beers is just as good and often better. Eaglenest provides the perfect platform to learn new beers in the perfect atmosphere.
very cosy place, good staff, great variety of Dutch beers and in good prices. Nice decoration. Perfect for friends who want to enjoy beers and chatting with each other
What a delightful atmosphere, and filled with folks who really wanted to sit and enjoy their wide selection of Dutch beers. Congenial . . . relaxing . . . and worth a visit!
Got this place recommended to us by a local and it did not disappoint. It is a temple devoted exclusively to Dutch craft beers, with 30 taps and hundreds of beers on offer, from at least 50 different Dutch breweries, making it a convenient one-stop shop. The guy asked what sort of beer you would like. Being a little fussy on which beers I like, it was great to find some amazing local beers to try. Hardest decision was whether to enjoy another pint of the same or keep exploring their wide range on offer. Would love to do a proper beer tasting here.
Great bar, great selection of beers and friendly knowledgeable staff. A good atmosphere in relaxing surroundings, especially if you can get a seat. One of our top two bars in Amsterdam.
This bar was close to the Toren hotel where we were staying, so I was keen to visit and try a few beers after reading other reviews on here. The bar itself is quite narrow, but extends back quite a way with tables for between 2 and 8 people. The choice of beers is quite staggering (even before tasting) with up to 30 on draft ranging from blonde through IPA to deep dark stout. I noticed mixed reviews about bar staff, and could understand it depends who serves you. While we were there one guy was more interested in a female customer, while the other guy was quite helpful, letting us sample a few beers before we chose what we liked. Be aware, that the stronger the beer, the smaller the glass it is served in, so although 4 euros isn't too bad for a pint back home, that only gets you 250mls for some of the beers in this bar. but then again, the beer is up to 4 times stronger !
If you like beer this is the place to go you are spoiled for choice fom about 5.5% abvupwards some over 11% abv all the beers come in there own glass
Came across this establishment on a short break, unfortunately on our last day.Interesting range of beers and the key aspect is they are all Dutch, I think there is a Sister Pub with a range of International Beers. We managed to sample a few and the service was very friendly and professional. Beers are all served in an appropriate Glass.Prices are higher than other Bars, but this is to be expected given the range of Local/Craft beers. Will be on my list of attractions next time I visit Amsterdam.
I went there twice - once by myself and another time with my wife and daughter (in the afternoon). Contrary to what Nathan below thinks, I found the bar staff to be very helpful. I know quite a bit about British beer but not much about Dutch or Belgian beers and they explained the different types and made helpful suggestions. As there were 30 on draught I need all the help I could get.The bar has a great atmosphere as well and my wife was impressed with her jenever. They were quite comfortable about allowing my daughter in as well.
The beer was quite good with a large variety of beers to go around. This was the saving grace of course! The problem was with the bartenders. They were both difficult and condescending giving suggestions of the beer or other suggestions for bars. I get it that I'm not an expert on beer or Amsterdam. This is why we asked for suggestions.
