Growing up in Ollerton means I've been coming here a few years. It's lovely for dog walking, family outings, coffee, lunch, picnics. Lovely grounds and interesting history. Recommended for all ages
Been to Rufford today, my first ever visit. Fantastic park, walks, gardens, woodland, sculptures etc., but don't bother with The Coach House cafe!! The food is abysmal and the service is appalling with surly, abrupt and miserable staff who clearly didn't want to be there. The whole experience could have been so very different. Would have scored 5 stars if it hadn't been for the cafe.
A truly excellent place to get exercise, combined with a very interesting history. There is also an excellent Carvery Restaurant. We will definitely go here again when in the area.
Excellent place to visit, out of season, free parking, otherwise, a parking ticket and then free to explore the grounds. Good historic site of old Abbey, dissolved by Henry V111, then turned into a manor house and grounds. Lovely cafe' good food to eat in or outside, craft shops, reasonable prices, beautiful walks with a large lake, wildlife, swans, geese, ducks and other birds in abundance. Dogs welcome on lead, however, one point to make, we saw ONE red doggy bin, in some areas other refuse bins, but not everywhere, unfortunately we found the odd offensive result of irresponsible dog owners here and there, so more bins would help with this issue. Recommend this to families, wildlife watchers / photographers, dog walkers. It is pretty passable in most areas for disabled access, but there are odd places due to the buildings history that can't be visited by wheelchair bound or prams.
This Abbey is really beautiful and the surrounding area's are just as breath taking, not only is it beautiful but the gift shop really compliments it too. Definitely great for a day out as parking is free and the views are just lovely, I went during the winter but it was sunny and though it was windy and cold it was very nice to look around.
Had a very nice afternoon here, think I'd struggle to spend a whole day but it's great for a few hours. Also attended a family function at Rufford Mill which was very good.
Went with a group of friends with children during half term. Lot's of little things extra to amuse them. Parking was free the day we went but at £3 all day it is not really expensive anyway, and there were really helpful men about pointing you to car spaces. The courtyard cafe is excellent, such good value.the grounds and paths are well maintained. All staff are friendly.A little gem
Free parking the day we visited, and no entry fee. Interesing ruins, particuarly liked the orangery and bath house. Carpets of snowdrops to be seen during February, lovely!
I love this place! Interesting, good facilities, reasonable cafe and parking, nice little shops and lovely walks suitable for those with buggies and others for those more mobile or adventurous! We come back time and time again. Super attraction.
We went here for my daughters birthday Birds of Prey Experience. Good faciilities for food and drinks. A lake and gardens to explore, Good day out even in January.
We decided to go over this weekend and happy we did, although weather was cold had a lovely walk around the lake and took some stunning photos, will be visiting again in warmer weather and have another good look around,
Well worth going along with Children , Lake , plenty of space for the children to have fun with the usual Balls , kites and other out door fun . Ideal for tourist's also as plenty at this venue .
This is a great place for a day out, lovely lake and woodland area to walk around, the ruins of the abbey, watch the cars driving through the Ford. There are many shops and areas to purchase food. There is something to do for everyone.
It's always a real boost to our park staff to hear that visitors have enjoyed their visit to Rufford Abbey Country Park. We very much hope that you will come again:)
Thank you for your lovely review. Yes, the birds in the country park (including our ducks, swans, cheeky robins and famous white blackbird) are very well fed, by the many adults and children who enjoy watching them when they visit. Come again soon!
