.... Then we wouldn't use a supermarket. This is my daughter's local market so whenever I visit her we include a trip to Bury market, I'm so jealous she has this on her doorstep. It's busy, clean, colourful, lively, noisy and offers almost anything you could wish to buy.I love the fact there are so many local specialities available here, local breads, cheese, cake, sausages, meats etc, etc, I fmind myself asking the stall holders what things are, as if I'm from foreign climes. It's as close to a French market that I've ever been to, fantastic.

We always visit this market when we are in Bury - it is a must! The market is very clean and well laid out, with a good variety and selection of food stalls, clothes, materials etc selling everything and anything that you might want and cannot get anywhere else!Try the Black pudding and cheese stalls - and you'll be hooked!

We decided to take the hours drive to bury market yesterday and what a day we had back to the old fashioned way no lifts , heated door ways or golden arches(McDonald's )but the crys of stall holders rattling the raffers with their selling banter. Stalls cooking food so you can sample what they are selling .its as a great feel to the place and caters for all if bury market don't sell it its cos nobody wants it

we visited the markets for a few hours in september and really enjoyed it. it's very clean and tidy and well laid out. there's a good range of different stalls selling almost anything you might want. parking was fairly easy and access from the buses seemed easy too. a nice afternoon out.

Visited on a Friday in September 2014. An absolutely fabulous market. This was a full market day with hundreds od businesses operating. Try the black pudding and the various sausage flavours available. Wonderful selection available

Typical open air market with all the usual types of stalls. Bought a variety of interesting pies, a sourdough loaf, girls bought some fruit and the BOSS some jewellery.Nice to shop other than in a supermarket for once.

I love markets and shopping in general, but try not to buy stuff as I really never need anything. But here I found just the coat I had been wanting, and a lovely snood that was exactly the right colour to go with it, then a book by a favourite author that I have not read, and some incredibly strong and tasty cheeses, and a couple of other things ... but there was so much I could have bought. Wonderful fashion tops, luscious looking food ...all sorts of food!!! Crafts - OH EVERYTHING a crafter would need, and so much more!! Loads of all sorts for the house and home .... so much choice! Prices were good . (I can't believe how much I saved on my coat - and how I love it!!!) Next time I take the car so I can buy MORE!

I actually visit the market on average once a month as I work in the town.Think of your visit in two halves.1. You will find some of the finest quality meats, fish fruit and vegetables at incredible prices. Do look for the meat & fish hall. I always buy a large side fillet of salmon for as little as £8. This much salmon in a supermarket would easily be £30 or more. But there are also many further butchers outside of the meat hall in both the indoor and outdoor sections.2. The other side of the market is the number of endless specialist stalls. You literally can find anything. Fabric, buttons, batteries, car supplies, books, bags, records & cds. Do look right around the far outsides where you will find some great crafts. I bought a wooden hand carved jewellery box for my daughter. There are many cafes. And you are also in Bury town centre where you will find most major high street brands too. As a day out? I'd say if you were within a 2 hour drive then it's worth making a trip. The town is also well served by the Manchester Metrolink service which is very frequent. I think you'll probably be occupied for half a day though you'll want to get home and get all that great produce into the fridge.

The WORLD FAMOUS Bury Market! You can always get a good bargain and the staff on the stalls are lovely. There is a really nice community atmosphere. Would recommend a visit to Puffin Foods as you can make huge savings on there.
