Wow, where do I start! Bigger on the inside than it looks, this museum also houses a herring curing works. The smell is wonderful! Lots of Gt Yarmouth history especially of herring fishing. It also has a Victorian Row to walk through with houses either side to look in with audio guides. Lots of child friendly activities so children learn while they look and play. It also has activities for children during school holidays. There's even a gift shop and cafe, everything you could wish for.

Lots to see in the museum, staff very friendly. Adjoining café excellent for light lunches - soup was particularly good.

Visited this museum on a very wet afternoon and spent more than two hours there. It is a must for anyone who likes the history trail

Never been to Great Yarmouth before and went to this museum which taught me a lot of back ground info bout the area. Loved the World War area the most. Not expensive for great museum.

Been visiting yarmouth for years but never knew this place existed, glad we found it. Very interesting. Recreations of old streets and fish business very good. Cheap to get in, don't bother with the cafe tho.

Lovely museum with lots of information on Great Yarmouth and its history. I loved the way it was laid out with lots of local artefacts. Good paintings were also on display and a reconstruction of the old rows of houses.I found the story of the Scots Herring Girls who came down every year to gut, trim amd pack the fish fascinating. There was a film showing them working singing and knitting which was great.

A guest wanted to visit, so we returned.Enjoyed it just as much as previous visits, and followed by the unbelievable Silver Darlings cafe on-site. A winning combination.

Have now visited this museum on a number of occasions and it never fails to impress. The museum details the history of the herring fishing in Great Yarmouth and its affect upon the lives of the inhabitants. There are interactive displays, information handsets and plenty for the children to do There are special events throughout the year and an excellent cafe for light lunches and snacks. Entry fees are very reasonable to.

Displays very good, Features local fishing industry, changing features of coastline and also some excellent nostalgia. Great café for snack or meal..

Although it looks small from the outside, this museum is a Tardis! Brings Yarmouth to life, with exhibits covering not only the fishing industry but more recent times as well. Learned a lot and will certainly go back. Really excellent (and underpriced in our view!) cafe on site with delicious fresh food.

an excellent museum for those wanting to know a little of the history of Yarmouth , it is not boring or mundane as one often finds with such places , but keeps the interest and information fresh and alive

The museum tells a tale of the rise and decline of the herring fishery industry very well with interesting insights into the living conditions during a particular period of time. The displays downstairs were excellent but the museum I thought loses its way a bit when you go upstairs to find a pile of roman coins and a chain mail vest when you are expecting to follow the herring theme. However well worth a visit and things for kids and grandkids. The staff were great but they need to get the audio devices sorted out as it was tedious to have to return them several times during the visit due to battery issues.

Friendly staff and great displays make this a must see in Great Yarmouth. Great interactive displays, educational games for the kids including a boat in the court yard, dressing up and hands on displays makes this a fantastic half day out. Good value for money and if your up for fun and history it's for you and the kids.
