Really enjoyed this little place, so interesting to see all the butterfly's hatching. Defiantly worth taking your time to go around and really look. I walked around several times, spent an hour there. Your given a print out with the breeds so you can identify each species. Really worth a visit.

Visited with my family on a Sunday morning. Not a great deal to see here. Couldn't see many butterflies. It is quite small and if there are lots of people in there it can be overcrowded. As another reviewer said, the kids do seem to chase the butteries to try and get them and scoop them onto their hands!!

If you like butterflies then this is the one for you! It's a great big hothouse containing loads of butterflies that you can get up close to, perfect for rainy or cold winter days. There is also a crazy golf course, hedge maze and some good walking nearby so you can make an afternoon of it.

Thank you for sharing your concern. Sadly, wilful behaviour is indulged by some people who may not understand that this is not a petting zoo. They may have experienced zoos abroad where the ethos of care for animals is very different. We have signs urging people to leave butterflies in peace and aim for staff contact in the zoo during every visit. Constant presence is not possible, but the responsible public are quick to report incidents and we act as promptly as we can. We practice discreet observation, tactful intervention and education in appropriate handling, as a result very few are harmed per year.About a dozen butterflies reach a natural end to their lives every day in the zoo and although we conduct a collection each morning some can be overlooked. We are sorry your visit was not as satisfactory as we would expect, but hope you will visit again in future to give us the opportunity to provide you with a better experience.

We decided to go last minute in December having driven up that way to see clearwell caves and wanted another attraction to visit while we were there. This place is open all year around and if you do the mini golf, butterflies and maze you get a good discount. It's always quiet and you get lovely personal service from the staff there, you feel welcome and we have never had a bad visit. It's a shame the garden centre next door is closed now as it was nice having a stroll around in there also.

Went here over xmas .It was a nice place to vsit ,there were only about 10 people there but the staff were all nice and extremely helpful. Most of the butterfly were sleeping ,it was freezing outside and the sun was going down.Still it was very nice and we will be going back there again in the warmer wheather

I don't think there's much I can write as a review - this is a large shed, filled with interesting plants and much more interesting butterflys. There's plenty of information, and, well, lots of butterflys. All beautiful, varied and fascinating. It is a little short, as the shed is on its own and not huge, but it really is all about the butterflys, and they're lovely. Great for photos, and the price is very reasonable for the sheer number of butterflys that land on you, especially if you do the maze and/or mini-golf too.

Surrounding area is quite shabby. The staff at the butterfly zoo were very nice and friendly.Shop had a run down feel to it.I was disappointed that the area where the butterflies are is small. You keep bumping into the same people as you wander around.A larger area would be far more suitable.Great for photos and entrance fee i think is too high.

Wonderful way to view the butterflies up close. Beautiful setting and it's lovely that you can walk around casually at your own pace, and take lots of photographs!

When you first arrive at the butterfly zoo first impressions aren't great. The buildings and surroundings are shabby and when you go into the shop to pay its half empty of stock but full of dust!!! Putting that aside though, once you go through into the butterfly enclosure that goes out of your head as you wander round and see the butterfly's. Lots of different types of very pretty butterfly's and each time you think you have seen every type in there another one appears that you haven't seen before. Well worth a visit, but seriously in need of an update and clean up.

its great to get close up to nature the butterflies are spectacular and children & adults alike are given sheets and a magnifying glass to identify each one.On the down side (for obvious reasons) its extermely warm and stuffy inside

We had heard that this place was well worth a visit and walked from our hotel. This involved taking the hand ferry across the river which was fun. The staff were very welcoming. We were there at the same time as a cub pack who were having a great time. The butterflies were beautiful and stunning flowers.

This nice little attraction is well worth a visit. The butterfly house isn't huge but it's certainly well maintained with a great variety of butterflies. It allows for awesome photographs and you can return as often as you like on the day you purchased your tickets. We got the 3 attraction ticket with the maze and golf too. We would probably go back if we were in the area.

Lots of butterflies in bright colours, good information, bright staff, OK cafe. Worth the visit for old and young

We got the three attraction ticket which is for the Maze, Golf and Butterfly farm. The butterfly farm was very interesting and had so many different butterflies a few even landed on us. It was great fun. Had a lovely day at all three attractions then topped it with lunch at the hotel across the road in their beer garden. All in all it was a lovely day.
