Its no wonder this area is much used by painters and Photographers the harbour is very scenic and surrounded by the old houses with their traditional stepped gable ends, it is much in use by the crab and lobster fisherman and can be quite busy with tourists when they are unloading their catch . There is a hut on the Harbour that specialises in Dressed Crab and cooked Lobster they sell out very fast .....when its gone its gone ...I saw a French family tucking in to 2 lobsters that they had bought it just seemed perfectly natural , we have not really embraced the continental way with seafood . They were having a great repast with fresh bread they had bought ,sitting at one of the picnic tables on the harbour. The Harbour is also a good place for fishing when the tide is coming in with Mackerel and flatfish being caught

Well worth a visit, we enjoyed walking along the the costal path and down to the picturesque harbour. Village has a lovely, unspoilt, friendly atmosphere with genuine fishing still happening rather than set up for tourists. Though we were visiting out of season the place didn't feel "shut down" like many do. Would definitely recommend a visit. Will definitely be going back in the Summer.

When I was a child I used to visit my grannie in Falkirk. My uncle Jim used to take my father, brother and me all along the East coast to places like Burnisland and Crail. The last time I visited I was very impressed with the Marine Hotel, overlooking the sea, the shed on the harbours where they sold freshly boiled crabs and lobsters and the picturesque harbour with the bobbing red and blue boats. Morgan Chalmers, who runs the Marine Hotel, is the sort of character that makes a truly memorable holiday! My room, overlooking the sea was very comfortable with an awesome view. The breakfast was excellent - you could have anything you wanted, although he did 'draw the line'at Eggs Benedict! 'Quirky, politically incorrect, great entertainment and all at 30 pounds a night!! I can't wait to go back.....

We were out exploring Fife, had heard about Crail and had to visit. Was well above expectations, spectacular wee Harbour, took some great photos, weather stayed good for our visit. As it was October there were a few visitors around but was quiet enough to sit and admire the views.

No cars are allowed past a certain point except for residents so it is a short walk to the harbor. Not much in the way of shops to explore but a photo opportunity every step of the way.

Quaint and unique. Man-made enclosure to keep vessels safe from storms. Unlike anything we had seen before. Lots of sea-shore walking available.

Working harbour but still very pretty - local chippy can sort you out with lunch to eat at the harbour. Be warned it gets busy in the summer.

Very picturesque harbour with a walk around the sea front which has great views out to sea. You can buy fresh fish from a hut in the harbour that's freshly caught.

Very pretty harbour, looks out of a film set with a lobster shack that sells lobsters which you can eat immediatly or take home. What more could you want as a take-away after a golf round at Crail?

This really is the gem of the East Neuk. It is a lovely amble down to the harbour, and has some lovely examples of Fife vernacular architecture. It is small, contained and really quite charming. It would be heaving with bodies if it was in Devon or Cornwall, so it is good that it isn't. It affords some spectacular views up on the ramparts.

Crail is a gorgeous town with a pretty little harbour which we visited on a lovely summer evening. A real treat.

Crail Harbour is without doubt one of the most scenic places to visit in Scotland and the views from the harbour across the water to the May Island and beyond are fantastic

The title of this review sums it up! And on our way home a couple of days later we went back to get more Dressed Crab to take with us. Superb.

A beautiful charming harbour. Walk down and wander around exploring is fun. Also explore the other east neck harbours, although similar they all have a different feel.

What is there to say? I hadn't seen Crail since ... never mind how long! (Many years ago, I was at the JSSL in Crail - the Services language school). I remember Crail harbour as being extremely beautiful, and it didn't disappoint on the return visit.
