Play with a caddy for sure. Quirky fun and you can play it very fast. They give you a souvenir photo for your group which I think is a great tradition! Very nice staff

Original site for the Open Championship, this is one of the top courses in Scotland. Played in poor weather, but still found interesting and playable. A few blind shots turn some people off, but don't let them scare you away. Too bad they don't have room to host the Open, as I think it's a much better course than the Old Course.

This should be so much better known. A really lovely old links course which doesn't look too difficult but requires accuracy and thought.Clubhouse experience absolutely fantastic - good food, lovely bar room overlooking the 18th green.

Very traditionall and sometimes a bit quirky links course. Not an easy course but as long as you can keep it fairly straight you don't have to hit it mile to enjoy yourself. Welcoming and service minded staff all around. A genuine, old school, golf experience.

Not to many words can describe being able to play where the 1st Open Championship was held. In any case, this golf course did not disappoint. Recommend getting a Caddy as there are many blind shots and carry distances that are incredibly important to know before taking a shot. Unless you drive the ball straight, hit a low iron - the course is short enough you can easily get to most greens in two after 200+ drive.

Visited her with 11 others on Friday 12th September for a golf stag day. Can honestly say that not one hole disappointed. From the first hole which is exceptionally narrow to the third which has the most ridiculously sized bunker in driving distance to seventeen where you need to hit your approach over a couple of humps, (has a slight resemblance to the upper chest of a female) the whole course was outstanding, challenging and very demanding. My four ball had the pleasure of the company of caddy Chris and his information with invaluable. Without a caddy you would have no idea where to try hit it at times and even balls that go off line he instantly knew what blade of glass your ball would be on in the rough. After the golf we had dinner in the clubhouse and the service and food was exceptional. All staff you came across from the starter to the barmaid were a credit to Prestwick Golf Club. A must experience for the golf enthusiast.

Ok, so the first hole runs along the railroad track and looks undistinguished. Don't be fooled! This course where the first Open Championship was held in 1860 will break your back unless your shots are straight and true. Best advice I can give you? Take a caddy and listen to him!

A perfect course with true links character. Some blind shots, some open shots (only to find out there are more hazards thank you thought). to summ up: a great experience of true golf

Played here and can honestly say probably the friendliest ' Quality ' golf course I have played. From the warm greeting from the starter to the helpful chaps in the pro shop to the caddie that helped me navigate around and put up with one or two wayward shots, this was a wonderful experience. The golf course is superb and a fun test Immaculate greens and fairways and tough rough, perfect. Enjoyed the food afterwards and have the free photo of us in front of the clubhouse on the sideboard at home. If you get a chance this is a MUST play...fantastic.

A wonderful experience for all golfers. Where it all began for The Open, this place is steeped in history and oozes tradition. A great links test of golf with some blind shots and hidden dangers. A must-play for all keen golfers.

Got absolutely poured on but still played and enjoyed my round as much as the 6 other well renowned courses. Need a caddy or a couple of watchful playing partners..best blind routing I've come across and was warmly embraced as I left the carpark to the time I had my final sip in the clubhouse..great conditioning, fun and layout. Great history lesson!

Had played a lot of courses in prior trips but first visit to Prestwick. A great day and the club is very welcoming to guests. Do not miss it.

We played this the day after Troon and the day before Turnberry. Of the three it was my favourite. Its a classic links course with a lot of history and there are a number of idiosyncratic features - blind par threes and par fours - and several very challenging holes. We had a caddy and I would say this is a must: at several points we would have had no clue where to aim or even where to go. We also played the course twice as they have an offer where, if you have played once, it only costs another £55 to play again. Bargain. We had lunch in the clubhouse between our rounds. The food was good and we found the members to be very welcoming: keen to hear how we had found the course etc. A special day.

Home of The Open and Old and Young Tom Morris. It's a classic short course with some tricked up holes, but quite challenging and fun. Starter and pro shop staff were very accommodating and friendly.
