streamvale open dairy farm

This is a great place for a good family day out. Best in the summer time when the weather is better. Great for young children. Good to bring your own picnic as there is a lovely picnic area with lots to entertain the kids.

We've been season ticket holders for years at Streamvale Farm and it's about time I wrote this review because we just love it there and can't wait until it reopens.Most of the regular staff know us and us them, they have never ending time and patience and always smiling and willing to help. Judith and Helen the bosses and so many more to mention. Jenni, Naomi, Racheal, Stuart and all our Streamvale friends. The farm has so much to see and do it's quite easy to spend hours there and not realise it. My son's favorite thing to do is visit the rabbits, he has given each of them names (black eyes was his favorite). Even at the height of summer and the farm is buzzing the staff remain friendly and helpful the smile never fade. Besides all the happy, well loved and cared for animals their is plenty of other activities to keep families amused. Our children's favorite is the barrel ride which costs £2 per child, even though they have rode on it countless times you can still hear the screams of delight and joy all the way round the farm. The cafe is lovely, the hotdogs are a must again our children's favorite and the ICE cream delicious. I feel I must mention that our children have autism and other special needs and that the staff at Streamvale are very aware and tuned in to children and adults that require that little bit extra. I can't recommend it enough. We love it!

we went up to streamvale this year for their christmas storyride experience and had an AMAZING time. such good value for all you get - a magical storyride on the back of a tractor and trailer, making reindeer food with the kids, and a trip to santa where you can take as many photos as you like (instead of places like hillmount that charge 10 pounds for one photo). was a magical experience and will definitely be back next year. heard some people missed out as the spots fill up very quickly so get organised and book early!

Thank you for rating our farm so highly. It means a lot to us. I will make sure to pass on to all our staff.A family ticket covers 6 people, 4 is the minimum, so you can get 6 in for £22. We do offer our tractor rides at a reduced family rate at again 6 people for £6. Unfortunately our costs are too high ourselves to be able to include the rides in the admission fee. However we do do lots of special deals for the families on a tighter budget such as, every Monday in August our family tickets are half price, we do many different group on and grab one etc deals throughout the year. One coming up for Halloween. During term time every Thursday our rides are free. So we do our best to make sure that everyone can enjoy our farm and get the most out of it. If it wasn't for our own costs being so high we would be able to offer more.Hope you can understand this. Thank you again for your review.Helen

Hello, was saddened to read your review on our farm, but happy to answer some of your questions.The new cage for the hens is due to the amount of fox attacks we were getting, even through out the day. We were losing so many hens that we decided we had to do something about it. Although they do not have the space the once did, it is still a large area, also many of them can fly over the top if they choose to. It was unfortunate that we had to do this, but it was just getting too dangerous for our hens. In winter when the foxes are not about as much they will be let out again.As for not being allowed in with the animals anymore, unfortunately there is nothing we can do about that. Health and safety has got so strict now adays they just will simply not allow it. We have the pens so it is easy to still lean over and stroke them. its sad but health and safety is getting so strict these days, there is nothing we can do about it.You can still hold the chicks, just need a workers supervision as we had a few bad accidents. So again for the sake of our animals we have made this new rule.Very disappointing that you think it is too expensive this year, as we have put a lot new animal pens and play areas in. I cant think of many more attractions that you can spend the whole day at for much cheaper than we do it. Thank you for taking the time to write the review.
