Visited on Thursday for a work day out and even in the snow and cold conditions still had a great day! All of the staff made the experience really enjoyable and the day flew in! Pretty cool to see the CGI work on Winterfell as well! Would highly recommend!
Hello, can you please give us a call on 028 4372 3933 as we do not have your contact details. It is unclear what has happened here as we where open that day and our staff where in the centre and courtyard with other customers. Castle Ward is a large estate and we are thinking you may have been in a different part of the demesne. Regards, Ian
We stopped at Castle Ward as part of a Game of Thrones tour. I'd have to say it was the highlight of our tour. While the rest of our group went on a tour of Castle Ward we opted to stay and do archery with the amazing William. He was funny, kind and informative, and our experience was one of those precious, once-in-a-lifetime things that you never forget. We were incredibly lucky to experience this beautiful venue and meet William.
Title is misleading - coffee and a scone isn't my idea of brunch!More positive things. Guide/helmsman was friendly, careful about safety issues and informative about features around the lough. Could have had more input about the wildlife of the lough, especially concerning its importance in migration and breeding for birds.Overall we enjoyed the trip including the bouncy bits! Commentary is difficult because of the nature of the craft; our guide did his best to ensure all could hear, and ask questions. Happy to recommend this activity. (Don't forget - if you're going, dress sensibly for wet and cold!!)
This is a brilliant experience and I would recommend it to anyone. The guide was very informative, we were amazed by the scenery and the sheer enjoyment of being on a boat on the open water of Strangford Lough. We felt safe at all times, enjoyed a lovely homemade scone and cup of tea on Augus Rock and had lots of chances to take photos.A treat for a Sunday and shared with a friend - good memories.
I absolutely loved our brunch on a boat experience. I'd booked it for my husband as a gift and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Such a different, fun & interesting way to spend a morning!
We took a boat trip on Strangford Lough. The guide was very helpful and informative and good fun too.We didn't know about this company before but would highly recommend them for a good value and good fun day out.
A highlight of our trip to Northern Ireland was our time at Winterfell. We had great fun trying to shoot arrows as surrogate members of the Stark clan. Unfortunately we never did fell that deer, but we did manage to shoot a few wildlings and hit the targets. Our informative guide William had worked with the actors on GOT and passed on some of the experiences had by the actors which also enhanced the experience. The site was not just used for Winterfell scenes which we were also informed about and we able to visit. Castle Ward is an amazing spot and I would recommend this activity to anyone, even if they are not interested in GOT - how many times in life to you get to dress up and shoot arrows!!!.
What a beautiful area! Staff at clear sky are very friendly and helpful. I bought a gift voucher for my husband and was disappointed that what I booked, they no longer offer, so had to take another activity , turned out was pretty good fun.
We had booked a personal Game of Thrones archery session at Castle Ward this past August while my family was visiting Ireland. It was beyond anything we could have imagined! William was a fantastic host and we had a wonderful time. We were so thankful he was able to take the time to point out the other shooting locations from the series for us and to share some insights from what it was like to be involved with production. If you are a huge GOT fan like we are, this is a MUST while in Ireland. William was a brilliant instructor and very personable. He made the whole set come to life with his stories. The costumes and props were great fun. It was a delight booking with Clearsky Adventure and I would definitely go back and do it again.
Fabulous family adventure. We all dressed up in Game of Thrones clothes for our Archery Experience. William the instructor was excellent. Such great fun.
We did the Game of Thrones Archery Experience at Castle Ward. It was worth every pound!!! We had SO much fun dressing up and acting our part as archers! And we actually did pretty good, with the help of the actual on set Game of Thrones Archery Master. He was a fantastic person and he made it a time we'll never forget. What an amazing experience.
I booked the Sea Safari as an unusual way to show the Lough to friends visiting from France. I think they'll be talking about it for years! Nuala provided me with all the information beforehand, and Andy was a fantastic guide on the day ensuring that we had both a fun-filled and informative tour: beautiful scenery, loads of photo opportunities of the seals and seabirds, the odd gossip and a few thrills going around the whirlpools and over the waves... the time just flew! I had a bad experience on a speed boat before but Andy is an expert driver and we all felt very safe. I'll definitely give a go to some of the other tours and activities Clearsky provide.
Had such a great time there! Dressing up was fun & although I was useless at archery it was hilarious!Even with a bit of rain it was a great experience! Thank you to all of the staff!!!
This was the second time I have been on the Sea Safari, although this time was the 'High Tea at Sea' trip, meaning we got to stop off at Castle Ward Coal Quay for a cup of tea and a scone. The trip is great fun for all ages - our Canadian relatives in their 50s enjoyed it as much as I did in my 20s - and Andy the guide/driver is really knowledgeable and informative. If you're a fan of 'Game of Thrones', it may be of particular interest, as Andy points out many of the filming locations around Strangford Lough. It is a great opportunity to see Seals in their natural habitat, as well as a variety of seabirds, and the magnificent tidal streams rushing into the Lough from the sea. The best part is definitely going over these waves at speed - great fun!One thing I would say, is wear waterproof trousers if you have them. Waterproof/warm jackets and life jackets are provided for everyone, but the spray from the waves does come into the boat. I got off lightly, but my Mum's legs were soaked! Other than that, a fantastic day out for all the family.
