This is where the locals seem to go for a walk, with plenty to see and some nice views... the modern art museum is also located here.

One could arrive here with bus-65 from central station. There are three museums here: The Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities (Östasiatiska museet), Modern Museum (Moderna Museet) and Swedish Museum of Architecture (Arkitekturmuseet). There is a spectacular view of the old town and the Royal palace in front of the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities. There is a smaller island connect via a bridge where there are buildings with old architecture. There are large rocks where you can relax while viewing the sea.You can reach the djurgården island with a ferry. SL-card and Stockholm card works on the ferry.

It's a 5 minute walk from north Gamla Stan to Skeppsholmen, eventhough it might be windy you have to go there, even if it's for only 5 minutes. From Skeppsholmen you have a great view of Gamla Stan and the christmas tree (in december). If you don't want to walk too far you can also just go to the beginning of the brigde (the bridge to skeppsholmen), here you will also have a great view.

A beautiful small island where many Stockholmers chill on warm summer days. There is also the very good Modern Art Museum on the island plus a very nice hotel if you'd like to stay overnight. I also like Hjertan, a restaurant on the Östermalm side of the island. Fun little terrace on the summer time.

Nice to see an old building converting into some thing so nice. Our room was small but comfortable, ate in the restaurant, not too impressed but a very good breakfast

I was fortunate enough to stay on the island so I had several opportunities to wander around. It is extremely tranquil with outstanding scenery & views of the other islands.

Many nice boats to look at as you walk in your own pace.Recommended when you want to get away from the noice in the town.

Lovely to walk over to here from the old town, or even better, take the boat from Slussen. Fantastic view of the old town and Sodermalm, lovely autumnal trees and peaceful walk along the quayside to get away from the hustle and bustle.

Went here in october and it was really beautiful with the autumn colours and everything. The views are beautiful, you can see the royal palace and parliament house from the island. Went also to the modern museum, that is located on the island.

Even if you just go to the Moderna Museet, you can't go wrong. The National Museum along the way is closed for renovation so be sure to check if they still have the temporary exhibit elsewhere.

After spending the day shopping and dining with friends on one of the busiest weekends I have ever encountered in Stockholm it was so nice just to walk the 10 min. out to Skeppsholmen and it is like you left Stockholm for the countryside.I have stayed here a couple of times now both for leisure and work and it is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. Food is excellent, staff are fab and the beds sooo comfortable. Can't wait until next time:)

This is a small beautiful island, one of the 14 islands of Stockholm city. It's a nice place for a quiet walk or a quick tour by bicycle. It communicate through a bridge with Kastellholmen, one of the smallest islands of Stockholm, on which you will find a small castle (Kastellet). When accessing to Skeppsholmen, you will be able to see a famous ship, the AF Chapman anchoring in the Lake Malaren.

We were here in the early fall, so there is no telling what the summertime brings, but this place is a beautiful oasis within walking distance from the old city. Home to the expectedly off-beat Modern.

There's not much to dislike, the to islands are covered in trees, and being autumn the colours are very good indeed. the path around the island affords good views towards Gamlastan and on the other side the Museum district. Its like a different world here the peace is wonderful. Easy access walking in or bus 65 or the Ferry from Slussen. The Hostel and Hotel on the Island have Cafes.

We walked to Skeppsholmen from Gamla Stan. The walk is not too far and it was very enjoyable. We had a great time walking around the island and viewing the Stockholm waterfronts.
