I learned a lot about raptors and the show and display was excellent and a lot of fun. I really recommend this, if you're in the area it's well worth your time.
We had always wanted to go here but hadn't managed to make it .we were 2 adults and 2 teenagers absolutely brilliant show by a team of dedicated people who were extremely knowledgeable . Animals and birds well looked after would highly recommend this activity -show times in the brochure --fairly easy to find - if it is warm day bring some drinks
Amazing array of rare birds and animals. From reading other reviews, I see some people are scared of the Doberman which I can understand but he is very docile and all the animals seem incredibly well trained so I presume he's no exclusion. The show itself lasts about 1.5 to 2hrs and is absolutely amazing value (when I compare to a falconry experience I went on in Wicklow) The man presenting the show (I didn't catch his name) is absolutely hilarious and had us in stitches laughing, you just never know what he's going to do or say next. He's a bit wacky but you can feel his love for the animals and the animals seem to love him back. Highlight of the show was the Raccoon eating out of peoples pockets and the tame fox, just incredible to be up close to such a wild animal.Would recommend to anybody and I will definitely be returning.
Visited Eagles Flying after a couple of failed attempts with my wife in June, the weather was kind to us but a bit hot @ 24deg. The presentation and knowledge of all the birds was excellent and the flying display was first class. This is a must visit when in Ireland, and I am looking forward to a return visit. Keep up the good work.
Honestly, I've been to many bird shows as my daughter is really into birds, this is the best one I've ever been to. Everyone has a chance to be up close to the birds & to have the birds land on them if they wish. Highly engaging & educational, too!
We visited Eagles Flying at the end of July. It was a great family experience and the kids (8, 6 & 2) loved it almost as much as I did! There are plenty of birds and other animals to see. Access is only given to animals that are friendly and used to people. My guess is that staff are around to supervise the visitors more than the animals! The show started a little late as they were still cleaning out some enclosures and making preparations. Shortly after the show began a rather heavy shower came down. We were ushered into an old office for shelter. This further delayed the show. This did not bother us or the other visitors. The staff were even less bothered and it just went to show how genuine and relaxed they are there. It was like visiting with friends or family. When the show restarted we were treated to an array of birds which showcased the beauty and skills. Each one was also paraded past the audience for photo opportunities. Some we were allowed to touch but only when instructed as otherwise one might find out just how sharp their beaks are! One bird jumped from arm to arm around the audience as it followed the food. This included my son's arm and he was thrilled. The Eagle Owl was led towards my camera as it flew to the arm of the handler. It resulted in blood on the lens but made for a great video. After the show we made our way to a petting area where the we were treated to the fuzziest of rabbits, tiniest of mice and cheekiest of raccoons who stole food from visitors pockets. Kids got to sit on the back of a pig too. There were no facilities for food or gifts which is fine. Toilets are provided and were clean which is very important to me when bringing small children.I would highly recommend this attraction to anyone of any generation from any background. Well done to the staff who clearly love their work and provide a great experience.
Have been here a number of times and it's a fantastic experience. Would definitely recommend arriving in time for one of the Flying Displays (twice daily). The staff are very knowledgeable and entertaining. The Flying Show is both fun and educational for all ages and everyone gets an excellent opportunity to see the birds up close ! There is also a Pet Area which the younger children in my group loved. It's a great place to visit on a nice day and take your time to wander around and check out all the birds and other animal but I know the shows can be done indoors too !
Sanctuary for the visitors too...A sense of peace and serenity from once you enter the enclosure. We were impressed even before the show, with the friendly staff who were showing the children ferrets, a tame fox,(rescue animal) and a white chicken, hiding two little chicks, who was quietly undisturbed by the Doberman and other animals, who co-exist tin the most amazing way!The show was fantastic- entertaining and educational, and quite amazing to have the experience of these wonderful birds flying so LOW!....Almost eyeball to eyeball! (good job I had my sunglasses). Afterwards the children really enjoyed the opportunity to pet and hold some smaller animals-rabbits, mice, and even got to sit on an enormous sow!!Unforced, the Staff demonstrate a gentle, almost a "Doolittle" affinity with their birds and 4 legged friends. We are planning to go back .
Eagles Flying, Ballymote, Co Sligo, is one of the best attractions in Ireland. Tucked away outside Ballymote, they have a fantastic selection of birds of prey and other animals, They do a twice daily show, where you learn a lot about birds of prey and get a chance to get up close and personal with these beautiful creatures.Highly Recommended for all ages!
If you are in the vicinity of Sligo you owe it to yourself to try it out. Never in my life have I been so close to such wonderful animals. The whole experience was breathtaking. After the show we visited the barn and we had the opportunity to interact with some animals including a lovely and docile raccoon. I have read a comment about a the roaming Doberman. That dog is as docile as a dog can be. Rest assured that there are no problems whatsoever to take kids with you to eagles flying. Kudos to the hard work of these people who love these animals so much. Loved every minute of it.
When we arrived at Eagles Flying there was a Doberman dog pacing on its own through the visitors, including my small children. The visit started with a wander around the enclosures and the staff giving info on the birds. This was difficult to enjoy while keeping an eye out for the dog and making sure my children didn't antagonise it. The main show itself was up close and personal with a brilliant variety of birds of prey. It was entertaining and educational. But I won't be returning because of the Doberman, it's not what I went to see.
We went here last year on our trip around Ireland and we all enjoyed it so much that we went back this year. I have been to a number of other bird shows in Ireland, England, and USA (I like bird shows) and this is by far and away the best. While some of the others (especially in the USA) were more polished this show allows you to get up close (and I mean really close) to the birds. The owner is a brilliant communicator and you soon pick up that he and all the staff have a real love for the birds and other animals on site. So worth a visit, I can't see how anyone would be disappointed.
Although we went on a really wet day, between the showers we met up with some great staff members and had a chance to see the birds of pray and other animals who roam about on the massive site. Due to the heavy rain the bird display was indoors. We were a bit disappointed at first but the show was fantastic and gave us a chance to meet with the birds up close. The staff were really nice and very informative. After the show we had a great time with the pigs, mice, rabbits and especially the racoon whose speciality is as a pick pocket to find his lunch.... real fun.A great day out in any weather and for all ages....thanks everyone for making this a special day.
We just happened to find the brochure for Eagles Flying and ended up watching the show with three groups of elementary school children and a few random adults. It was a brilliant show that entertained everyone. Very well worth the time and effort to find it.
We had a fantastic visit. The show was educational and entertaining. The owners love of birds really came through. Everyone was professional but there was a real opportunity to get up close to all the birds. We will now have this on our visitors must do list. Looking forward to our next visit already.
