It's smaller than other cities, so not many tourists get to see this spectacular place. The main market is amazing with its colorful architecture and coble stone everywhere. It's best to see it in the summer when local restaurants and bars open little "outside gardens" for their guests. You can have a beer overlooking the main market, breeding in the fresh air and enjoying the breeze. The lanterns and pavement make you feel like you are back in time and the atmoshpere is very relaxing. Great food, great beer, great view and very clean. A must see is the baroque church "Fara" , a 1 minute walk from the main market. It's spectacular inside, I'm surprised that nobody yet really discovered this place. Don't forget to walk to the Old Brewery mall about 20 minutes from the main market. It was voted one of the best malls in Europe.
On a good day the colours of all the buildings are simply delightful and in my opinion even more beautiful than Warsaw. Grab a bite to eat or something to drink and take a stroll. Plenty of street vendors to peruse also.
A charming and quaint old square, Stary Rynek is typical of Eastern European historic squares, and this one does not disappoint. Great restaurants and little shops that are quaint and friendly
Not sure if the street vendors are there all year long, but they have a wide variety of wares and foods to sample. Don't miss the goat coming out of the steeple at 12:00 on Sunday. Nice atmosphere. Picturesque with the old buildings around (many were rebuilt in the old style).
liked every thing I had visited Poznan before in 86 89 and about 92 we were just passing through this time but stayed a couple days each time to get train and bus connections,The connections from the hotel are easy
Old market square is a must see in Poznan. Why? In points to make this quick and less painful:- date on 1253, 141 m each side- Renaissance town hall - extremely bold & beautiful, with a "funny device" - a pair of tapping goats- 4 fountains- 2 museums: Military Museum of Greater Poland and Museum of Music Instruments (you will not believe what people put in their mouths!)- 2 bourgeois palaces and a lot of nice old tenement houses around - Renaissance city weighing scale - Classicist guardhouse- Pranger - favourite point of meetings in Poznań (no truly Poznan date can do without this!)Haters gonna hate...
Many restaurants and bars. Interesting architecture but birks on the streets are not comfortable for walking.
Poznan square is underrated. However I believe that the buildings are great but the atmosphere created by the go go bar and those clubs which are allowed to pump out music completely lower the tone of the city During the weekends especially. Having a beer on the square is gorgeous in the good weather but poznan council need to make some better rules and regulations about noise.
Picturesque square with pristinely reconstructed facades. The noon goat show is quite amusingly underwhelming but the school kids who gathered were engaged. Most things closed on Mondays - including the Town Hall.
Great place to walk around even on a cold day. Lots of places to eat, relax, have a beer, or people watch. Heavily monitored area by Police 24 hours per day so fairly secure. Go and enjoy it! Old Europe at its most interesting and make sure to walk the streets best way to see it all.
As per the trip advisor reviews the square is very beautiful. The architecture is great.Lots of nice bars and restaurants on and just off the square. A great base for a night out. We had a tapas. Can't recall the name though! :(
