Druids considered the mountain a sacred hill and i have to agree with them, as this village coils around the Grand Place ringed by 14 strikingly beautiful large houses whose granite frontages date between the Renaissance and the 18th-century. I heard a term, attributed to author Pierre-Jakez Helias, who described the place as a " granite trough" dispensing food for the soul. Paved streets bordered by fine houses, lead one to the main square and onto the Gothic church. Its almost unique, i thought, as it has undergone no addition, modification or restoration, coming down the centuries intact with nave, alter-piece, stained glass and pulpit. No wonder the 1921 flic "The Three musketeers" was filmed here and a slew of painters have covered its every gorgeous aspects. Film maker Roman Polenski, cops a lot of flack, as well as plaudits, considering he was instrumental in getting all the electricity cables buried underground. Salute. I would have loved being here for the Summer Festival to see the costumed procession stretching 12 km.

Locronan is often cited as Brittany's prettiest village. Personally, I feel that Rochefort en Terre might have something to say about that, to name but one.However, it is undeniably beautiful and I would say that the church, externally, could certainly claim to be as striking as any in the area.I thoroughly enjoyed my visit but I have to say that, once you've seen the lovely main square, there is very little else. I spent half an hour there and even then I was deliberately stretching the visit out a little, in order to justify the 3 Euro fixed charge I'd just paid to park. As far as I could see, it is impossible to avoid the parking charge or 'shop around' for something more economical because the road into town is barred by the car park company and you are approached in your vehicle to purchase a ticket.I would summarise by saying don't miss this beautiful village but maybe eat lunch there to pad the visit out and combine with other local attractions such as the great Port Museum at nearby Douarnenez.

Pleasant place and very pretty but also rather twee and felt a bit like a theme park. Parking was not free at all it is 3 euros - ticket is valid for a year but that is not of much use to most people. Most of the shops are expensive as you might expect. Worth a visit but a bit sterile

This town is one for the postcards. It's beautiful at every turn and lovely to wander around. If you follow the path behind the church up the hill, you can have a walk in the woods as well!

Many lovely little shops and quirky places to visit.Quite well organised for tourism - a most see spot.3 euros for a years parking is a bargain

When in the Brittany area of France visit this place ,easy free parking and lovely little shops nice walk down the main street to the church I thought the restraurants were very pricey take a packed lunch much cheaper lots of art/ gift shops and the obligatory canned fish shops seems almost everywhere in Brittany has canned sardines or fish soup shops but this is well worth a visit

Thoroughly enjoyable as a picturesque spot, at a time when it was not overwhelmed with visitors. We strolled, taking photos, chatting to shopkeepers, looking at the paintings especially, and admiring the views in the sun. Lunch at the Coin du Feu was just right. May was definitely the time to go.

Its like stepping back in history - great place to visit if you're in the area. Parking is limited so get there early to grab a parking space.

The village of Locronan boast being one of the most beautiful villages in France . I guess that is right, although I can imagine that list is quite long !!The place is a little enchanted gathering of typical Bretagne Stone houses , and walking around its narrow and flowers-filled streets is just a pleasure . We visited the place in September, so there were not many people around . If you plan to visit, you might want to avoid high season periods, as I cannot imagine the experience being such a great one when you are bumping into another visitor every second . Just walk around the place, and look for the pastry and chocolate shop in the Church square . It is a treat, just like the village is .

On semble revenir des années en arrière, c'est tellement charmant ! Les rues et les maisons en pierre partout ! Plusieurs belles petites boutiques aussi.

Splendide petite ville, où il fait bon se balader. Chouettes petites boutiques, quand nous y sommes allés, c'était jour de marché, beau choix d'articles cadeau et galeries. L'église et la place valent vraiment le détour. à voir !

tres belle endroit a visiter!j y retournerai!!!on voit bien la bretagne d epoque !sa pierre!ses couleurs! ses fleurs!!!

Cathédrale et architecture intéressante, par la nature de matériaux pierres, l'harmonie et l'unité des bâtiments l'histoire portée par les murs etc ...

visite faite le 18 février.Quel dommage, tout était fermé, hormis le magasin de gâteau...merci pour mes hanches! lolnous avons tout de même pu flâner dans les rues de Locronan, faire de belles photos de ce petit village typique breton.Quel bon dans le temps! ne manquait que les charrettes, les gens en habits d'époque et on se serait cru au moyen âge.Une village plein de charme qui vaut le détour .

Ce village médiéval a conservé son authenticité, nous avons fait la visite en fin d'après midi avec un ciel bleu intense c'était magique ! Très peu de visiteurs , les conditions étaient réunies pour des photos d'enfer !!! Les bâtisses datent du 14 au 17ème siècle et aucune construction moderne ne vient gâcher le spectacle unique et un peu angoissant !Au crépuscule de rares lumières viennent projeter des ombres fantomatiques , on pourrait se croire parfois dans un Magritte !!
