安布瓦兹城虽然比起罗亚尔河畔的香波城小些但也算是非常有名的城堡,达文西就是在此长眠的,这间城堡建筑非常有代表性也非常适合拍照~哈~
Very well presented history of this chateau, visited on a cold crisp day and they had huge log fires blazing. Lovely gardens. A must.
After visiting his home...I had to see where he is buried. Lovely chateau overlooking the river. Small comparatively speaking but nice sense of history. It was a cold and rainy day but I wouldn't have missed a visit.
From the outside this Château doesn't give much of a hint at how grand it will be on the inside. We had a beautiful day flooded with sunshine and the views from the castle as well as the gardens overlooking the Loire and surrounding countryside was exceptional. The brochure was enough for us to provide the background and signage was great as well. We were amazed at the size of the open garden area and loved the little chapel with Di Vinci's grave. If it's good weather the day of your visit I suggest a picnic lunch either inside the castle (at the top of the gardens) or on the island in the Loire where you can lie on the grass and gaze and the castle dreaming of the days gone by. Lovely gift shop inside and lots of cafes at the bottom of the Château to enjoy a cuppa and sticky cake afterwards (try Bigot Chocolatier).
I love the architecture...looks more like a fort, useful once, than a castle. I knew Leonardo Davinci had a house built for him by the king not too far from Amboise, but I didn't know he was buried in Aboise (in a little chapel outside within the walls of Amboise. The gardens looked nice, but it must be even nicer in the spring and summer (we visited in Febuary).
At this time of the year there are no crowds and it was great to just stroll at our leasure through the historic Chateau and the well appointed grounds. The views from many spots over the beautiful town are spectacular. It is well worth hiring the sound system which we found worked very well. The chapel with the remains of Leonardo de Vinci is well presented.
A great setting with many photo opportunities. Gardens are great and the audio tour is well worth it.
The Chateau is beautiful and access is in the centre of Amboise up a steep hill. Once inside the views are incredible and the gardens are beautifully maintained. The beautiful chapel contains the burial place and remains of Leonardo de Vinci. This is a stunning place and yes there are lots of steps but each step is worth it.
You definitely need to visit Chateau D'Amboise. The inside is neat, but the best part is the view of the old city below. Very picturesque! Would highly recommend.
One of the most beautiful chapels, perched on top of the high stone wall, I have been to and a great starting point. This is a very well maintained royal residence and the audio guide was very good. The views are wonderful and the gardens lovely. It could be a little difficult if you are infirm, although there is a lift to get to the main ground level. Highly recommended
Such a beautiful place, been on many visits here and it always amazes me. Highly reccomend a visit from all. Theres a lot of steps around the castle so I would think about that before you visit if you may suffer any breathing difficulties etc, but overall an amazing castle with brilliant views over the river and Amboise.
built in such a manner that you can walk on the horse all around the castel,on the hill of the town. Also the castel hosts the chapel of LEONARDO da Vinci.
Lovely situation high up on a hill above the Loire, with beautiful gardens and lots of interesting things inside too. An interesting sculpture of the planets outside. (Apparently Leonardo da Vinci is buried there.) The town is beautiful on a warm summer's evening. We ate our meal in a road side restaurant, watching the world go by, until the shadows lengthened....
Absolutely loved this little town.We camped on an island in the river with the castle looking down on us. Coming from NZ where we have no such thing as castles this was so magical for me. Being our honeymoon made it even more special. The Chatueau is a step back in time
I really liked this chateau. The chateau itself is on the smaller side, but nice. There is a gorgeous little chapel that looks over the town center, and is where Leonardo Da Vinci is buried! The grounds are relaxing and a wonderful place to spend some time. A great place to spend an afternoon.
