Thank you for your comment. We are glad to know you have enjoyed the wine tasting. It was very nice for us to receive you at the estate and to share with you our work. Regards, Vanessa
Charles was fantastic! Enthusiastic about the wine, his english was excellent. Answered all our questions, we learned quite a lot about chenin blanc! And...to top it off, the wine was wonderful. One case( mix and match of types) on the way home :) Highly recommend a stop here.
This was our first stop in Vouvray; we picked it based on the reviews, and the wine lived up to my expectations. The staff was wonderful - asking what I preferred and tailoring the tasting for me. I tried a range of their wines, learned a great deal about the soil and the difference between Vouvray and Montlouis wines. The prices were also reasonable, not the cheapest Vouvray but not the most expensive. And given the quality of the wine, the price is decent. There was also space for the kids to play and a friendly dog.
After a few hours in the car searching out smaller vineyards we stopped here on the way back to the hotel, after seeing the reviews on Trip advisor and a recommendation. We love good wine and have tasted a fair few good french wines now.. It was simply the best wine we tasted in Vouvray, if not the Loire - loved it! bought a couple of boxes to take home and will enjoy ever glass! Very helpful host, who spoke perfect English and did not mind our poor attempts at french! Would recommend to anyone in the area/ passing by!
We enjoyed visiting this small winery as we left the Loire for Dordogne. We did not visit any other wineries, so I do not have any comparisons, but very much enjoyed the short stop over here. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, there were only a few other visitors on the premises (which I think is a definite plus for a wine tasting - more personalized), and the wine caves were unique from anything I have seen in CA or SA wineries. Worth a stop here if you are nearby!
By far the best wine tasting experience in the Loire Valley I have been to. Not expensive at all and they are VERY welcoming to tourists and locals alike looking to discover a typical French winery. Tours and tastings in English are available and not a problem for their well trained team. Their location is accesible by bus from downtown Tours and is only a 15 minute ride along the Loire River. If travelling to the Loire Valley for a great wine experience, come here!!!!
Superb spot near Tours. Very friendly and knowledgeable about Vouvray wines. Definitely worth a visit to learn, taste and ultimately buy!
We stumbled quite by accident on this small winery and received a warm welcome and a 40-minute personalized tour even though it was peak harvest time. The young lady in marketing who led us around the cave and led the tasting spoke excellent English and offered interesting perspectives on American and European markets. Anyone interested in winemaking and Loire still and sparkling whites should consider making this a must-see. We wound up ordering a case of the dry (sec) Vouvray and it arrived just a couple of days after we got home.
We visited this winery on the recommendation of the B&B we were staying at. The man who met us was very welcoming, and was happy to talk us through a tasting and take us on a short tour of the cellars, even though we turned up without a reservation in the middle of the harvest. The wine is fantastic, although we regret that we were only able to bring home 2 bottles. We hope that they begin exporting to Australia soon!
Alexandres enthusiasm and pride for what he does, and has achieved, is both infectious and entertaining. Thanks to local and UK contacts, he devoted over 3 hours to just the four of us, but his wines were excellent, and affordable. He speaks superb English, and was not in the least phased by our basic knowledge of wine. Quite the opposite, in fact; he launched into a prolonged and brilliantly educational presentation of his wines as a result. Meet him, and buy - we did!
We were staying in Tours and decided to go for a wine tasting. Most of them were closed on Sunday but not this one. It was great!!! The young lady was very nice, she spoke english and french. The visit was informative and informal. We have a 3 yr old and she even had crayons to keep her entertained. We only stayed for tasting, didn't do the caves. Great Service!
We took a trip out to Chateau Gaudrelle via one of the TA chaps in Tours and he did not steer us wrong. We actually missed to first bus to go out there and the next one was not until 2 hours later, so we were able to fill in a little time, we had a coffee and took a stroll around the area and saw a trial run of the new trams that will soon be in place. We get on the local bus and said to the driver that this is where we want to get off. He had no English and we had very little French. So we were sitting opposite two lovely ladies and they were asking everyone on the bus did they know where we should get off. One of the passengers sited it before us and pulled the bell so the driver just dropped us right outside. People were brilliant in the areas we travelled in.We went into the office and asked for Charles, but unfortunately he was busy and asked us would we mind if Antwan could show us around. It was a first class tour as there was no one else there at the time (Thursday, 30th May 2013). We were really spoiled with attention. If you want to experience a beautiful little winery then this is the one to go to. We even bought a few wines and they were delightful and we wished we had bought more but we were only at the beginning of our 8 week holiday. We decided that we would not bother to catch the bus back and walked and what a beautiful walk it was. The scenery was spectacular and with the La Loire River being so full and strong flowing we really enjoyed the walk back. That in itself was worth doing.
We visited Chateau Gaudrelle for a second time and once more we loved itVery welcoming, informative and informal - you're at home right awayAnd the wines are awesome tooWe love it
As a couple who has owned a small vineyard and winery we found the time spent at the Ch. Gaudrelle most enjoyable and informative. The owner/winemaker, who is a most charismatic gentleman and who speaks excellent English, was extremely generous with his time and knowledge. We had the opportunity to taste the range of Chenin Blanc wines produced and they are of exceptional quality, a reflection of the near-perfect terroir and the winemaker's obvious passion. We have visited very many wineries over the years and this visit stands out as a highlight. A must for wine lovers visiting the Loire.
They were so nice!! They gave us a tour, lots of information, they tought us all kinds of thing on wine making, wine tasting. There is just so much to say about everything they tought us, but I will sum it up and say this is the place to go, not to mention that their wine is excellent. I bought a case of it. Beautiful place, great people and great wine. This is a must!
