Breathtaking scenery, making for a nice day trip. Bring some snacks and a wide angle lens for your camera because it's really hard to get all of the fjords in one shot!
This trip rolls out from Bergen harbour early doors. You get a good few hours tour as you go down the fjords, although you're too far inland to reach the sea.The scenery is fantastic, seeing it in person is something else. I would have liked to have gone out further but will do a tour round the coastal fjords next time. The boat is great, warm downstairs, with refreshments and toilets. I would say the windows needed a clean but it hardly matters when you're actually out on the top. I spend a good while on the way back just soaking up the scenery listening to Ulver. Perfection.
This was a truly awesome fjord with great views and wonderful scenery. Also opportunity to spot some great wildlife.
This was part of cosmos tour. Taking a boat tour from Utne to kvanndal in our way to Bergen. Charming scenery, Huge mountains on both sides of the water inlet, waterfalls, houses at the foot of the mountains.
The modern facilities intellegently intergraded with the nature, the best that any country can offer.
Would have love to do this but boats only ply in season(May-Oct); apart from this season either drive on your own or appreciate the nature through the bus. This should be a 365 days excursion like NiN
We did a Hardanger Fjord trip form Bergen which was absolutely amazing! Some of the most beautiful things I have ever seen! I did a full day trip which was definitely worth it!
The quiet mountains surrouding the peacefull blue water, just make you think about life! Its a great and unique experience.
Drivimg through the mountainside, or by sea the Hardanger fjord, with all the apple and frut farms is an idyllic place, just like being taken from a postcard. If you have the chance to take the 2 hour drive from Bergen, during spring/summer until mid autumn its worth it. With a mild climate all year round, it is definitley worth a trip.
It is very beautiful. You can buy the tour at the tourist office in Bergen center. Expensive like everything in Norway, but well organized.
My father and I visited Bergen on the first of September. We planned to take a train up to Flam and bike down as our way to see the fjords. We found out that starting September first most of the bike options for tours stop due to weather, as do many other tours. So, due your research when traveling in fall and winter. Don't plan on just finding a tour when you get there. And, I must say the temperature difference between there and Oslo was quite a bit. So after finding that out we had to search for a new option to sight see the fjords. We went to the tourist center and the women who helped us was amazing. Went over every option with us and all the pros and cons of each. All the tours are very expensive and all pretty much require at a minimum half a day. You can get a student discount as well as a senior citizen if you have proof. We decided to see the Skjerjehmn "tour." I use quotes because there was no tour. The boat is a water taxi and they tell you where to get on a off. This boat was basically a coastline tour that travels in and out of smaller fjords and the towns that inhabit them. You really get a sense of how big Bergen truly is. For a total for 4 hours you get to see a lot and stop in a itsy bitsy village. Not bad but would be better in summer. The boats are nice and clean and offer a food and drink store. There are few spots to sit outside out of the wind and you will be around smokers almost the entire time. Inside is nice and although the views are beautiful I would rather be outside looking at the them than in. Bu like I said the falls here bring cold weather and a lot of rain so we were inside. If you plan on doing a long trip in the boats no matter what tour check the weather first.
Amazing scenery all around as you cruise this fjord. You will see mountains and beautiful small villages right on those slopes next to fjord. The fjord is not too narrow but it has its own aura and its great.
Me and my wife left the port of Amsterdam for a two week cruise of Norway all the way up to the northern most tip of Norway. Our first port of call, Bergen, was delayed by a day because of a big storm that also canceled one port of call north of the artic circle leaving us just two ports north of the artic circle because of safety reasons; because of the big storm with very large waves. We sailed the Prinsendam, one of the smallest cruise ships to fit into some small harbers that we wanted to see.We found on the internet a nice educated lady that spoke english who would be our free guide for a half day. In Norway as not that many spoke english in Norway as in Amsterdam or Switzerland, but like most Europeans there were many friendly people living there. We were to meet our guide in an organic resturant and coffee shop, Godt Brod Floyen on Vetrlidsall Menninger 19. Say what!We left the ship in the rain with our special rain coats on. On the docks there were long lines of 40 each with a leader holding up a banner for the 40 to follow. Those were walking excursions running about $40 USD each. We have been to Europe before and it is much more fun to walk the city alone and keep the $40 for spending money in the shops. We walked for a half hour and had no clue where we were. We asked two Norway men that spoke zero english. I showed them on paper the name and address of our meeting place. They talked to themselves in Norway talk for a few minutes. One man pointed to me than pointed down the street where we were walking. Then he pointed to the right and said, "McDonalds". Then he pointed at me and pointed to the left. Things got quiet so I thanked them and we pressed on, thinking that later we would ask somebody else for directions. Later we found a McDonalds on the right and a uphill street on the left. Things were falling into place. We walked up the street, a steep uphill, and at the top we found Godt Brod. We saw a large white building just two buildings up but paid no attention to it.We walked in and found our nice guide inside. We ordered cappuccino and the three of us went to their outside seating as the rain stopped a while ago. (Funny thing about Europe as we cant find suger free sweetner anywhere; that we learned in Switzerland so I brought along 100 packs of suger free sweetner from home for the many cups of cappuccino we drank). A very nice three way chat began. It is very interesting to chat with somebody from such a different culture then ours.We were having a very pleasant chat when a group of 40 with the leader holding up a banner stoped at the large white building with the 40 standing in single file. As we talked another group of 40 with leader with banner got in single file line behind the first group. It appeared that the white building would only let in two at a time as the others waited. Now the single file line went past our coffee shop. We chatted about life in the two different countrys when a third group of 40 went into single file behind the others. We enjoyed our chat so much we lost tract of time. Then our guide told us that she only had one more hour with us till her business appointment. A bit late because we had so much fun chatting; we got up to let her do some guiding. We walked through the long line of groups of 41 and very few had made it into the white building and two more groups of 40 with leader with bannor had joined the group all in single file streaching most of the way down the steep hill. Well, they paid the money to see the white building that we accidently saw it for free, and had so much more fun.Well, our guide took us back but remained up the hill on streets and alleys as we found many attractive old buildings and statues, as we talked all the time. After the hour she pointed down the hill and told us we would find our ship at the bottom. We thanked her and gave her a small gift as we parted company and returned to our ship.
You see pictures but don't believe it is real - it is! It is beautiful beyond belief. It is so peaceful and the water is a beautiful color.
Boat is bustling. Time passes quickly. Awesome and I don't say that often. Efficiency of service. Frequency of commentary.
