What a cool information centre! Although it is in the city centre, it is kind of tucked away (Its on the 2nd floor of the buiding next to TGI Fridays). There are 3 main things that make this one of the better info centres I have been to:1. There are touch screens where you can read up on sights, and plot them on a map which you can then send to your smart phone/tablet etc. This is such a cool idea! We could work out exactly what we wanted to see without leafing through booklets or carrying a bunch of maps away.2. The gift shop is awsome - it is almost impossible to leave the info centre without buying something!3. The staff - they were friendly, informative, helpful and simply put, set the tone for a great day of exploring.Postives: Very well equipped, staffNegatives: I'm not sure its a great place for kids (or to take push chairs) as many of the trinkets are breakable and at kid-level.
What a delight. We've been to tourist offices (Dublin, are you listening?) where they basically expect you to be already entirely knowledgeable about what to do and where to go. Here in Trondheim, we asked the charming young lady what she would recommend for our four days here and she bubbled with suggestions and options. This is what we like to hear from the TI. Following her enthusiastic suggestions we enjoyed a lovely long weekend in Trondheim. Unfortunately we didn't note her name, but we are very happy to confirm that the knowledgeable and enthusiastic young lady on duty did an excellent job.
Took their time to help and answer all questions. Got free maps and lots of ideas for things to do in Trondheim. Free wifi was also available.
The staff were pleasant & helpful. They found out for us the opportunity for viewing the Northern Lights.
Nice atmosphere and wonderful staff. I was able to buy, write and get stamps for postcards. Lots of cute little items for sale. Good information about Trondheim and surrounding area.
Spent half an hour looking around in the tourist information centre while my girlfriend was browsing booklets. The good and friendly service from the girl behind the counter was worth mentioning, as were the huge touchscreens in the back where you could generate your own city tour (select the sights you want to see and plot them on a map, mail the result including the most efficient route and details to your smartphone). There was also a nice selection of souvenirs and I of course ended up buying something... :)
After leaving Oslo , which was surprisingly nice big town but with too many tolls within the city , modern and as a Capital it is , we came to trondheim which showed us the norway we were expecting to see . houses , streets , parcs . It is worth it to visit the botanical institute
It is true that few places have managed to preserve their heritage as effectively as Trondheim, Norway’s third largest city. This ancient city, was founded by the Viking King Olav in 997 AD. The excursion starts from the pier to Nidaros Cathedral Norway’s national shrine, which is the only Gothic style incredible architecture; the stone carved in wonderful details is an exquisite works of art. It is interesting to see the history & heritage, so carefully preserved from antiquity; a delightful experience to learn the development of art in this part of the world. The English speaking guide was quite knowledgeable, humorous with her witty anecdotes. After the guided tour of the cathedral, we had some free time to explore. It was an enjoyable visit at Trondheim, during the Hurtigruten Northbound Fjord Cruise in Norway. I recommend fellow tourists to opt for Nidaros Cathedral excursion. Visited on 28th Aug. 2014 with friends.
They were very helpful. Nice selection of souvenirs. It was a lot of stairs but I like climbing stairs. They had great Wi-Fi reception so I could catch up on my e-mails. It is right downtown - very easy to find - next to McDonalds.
the manager could care less about English speaking visitors; there were absolutely no English guide books or any other traveler information; basic maps are sold for $6; we went out of our way to get information and were very disappointed; the office has recently moved and they have no signs at the former location as to where they have moved to; this is an issue if you are using GPS in your car it is going to take you to the wrong location...staff not very friendly or helpful
As I read before, they really are helpful and ready to answer to your various questions. At least we had no problem at all! The souvenirs they sell there are quite good, but they could have more magnets that have "Trondheim" written on it. At the train station I saw some that had the name with the trolls and I liked it more.
Can't fault. Helpful and friendly staff. Arranged a walking tour for us. Nice to have a range of Norwegian souvenirs for sale at a reasonable price ( for Norway) Would be nice if they had toilets there as well.
A pleasure to visit this information centre. They recommended a guided tour by bus - starting outside the Britannia hotel. We had the MOST wonderfully interesting older white haired lady ( I apologise for not remembering her name) who had lived in Trondheim all her life - her insight into Trondheim past and present ensured we had a wonderful tour - thank you for making our visit so special
A new office in the centre of town. Plenty of information on Trondheim and also brochures about other parts of Norway.
Set down, talk with tourists and have a coffee. The staff here is very helpful and fun to talk to. Stop in for a chat even if you know where you're going.
