It was great to visit this place 'couse it was long time on a "must visit" list! We were not dissapointed! Great , unique atmosphere, excellent service! Food and especially beverages are so so good! You won't try anything like that anywhere else! The gift shop is reall cool with many delicious stuff!
We go here for the coffee which is Andritos and the gift shop has so many very unique craft items and specialty foods. When we have guest from out of town we bring them to the brewery for their tour. Very informative and great fun.
The autumn salad i tried fos perfect with the Valmiermuiza dark beer and also chocolate cake. I have no words to describe how good it was. And also the atmosphere of the reataurant - they have thought about every detail with love and care for the customer. The waitresses were very professional. There is also a little souvenir shop. The gifts are very beautiful and not too expensive.
Visited the brewery and had the honor to have the CEO to guide us around and speak about the brewing process and history of the company. The beer itself is high quality and still not a mass production compared to the biggest breweries in Latvia. Still, you can find the Valmieras in many shops also in Estonia. The brewery has it's own restaurant and bar where we had lunch with a bigger group. Good service and very good food with some local snacks offered as well. There is also a brewery shop where we bought their fresh beer and some souveniers. Thank You once again for the visit and the brewery tour, it was one of the best brewery tours I have made.
I'm from Valmiera but now live in Scotland and at least twice a year me and my partner try to go and visit my family! Now for last 4 years tradition is to have Valmiermuižas alus! Always we got that in shops or my mum would get for us but this time we went there and had a fantastic tour around! Big thanks to shop staff who arraigned tour for us in an hour! And even bigger THANKS to fantastic Jevgenijs! He manège to give us tour in two languages Latvian for my mum and English for my partner. He showed so much passion about what he and Valmiermuižas alus is doing! Few days later we came back with my mum and gran for lunch! Best lunch ever!!( Sorry mum! :) ) Proper Latvian home cooking! Big portion for very good value! Now Valmiermuizas alus is one of our must do list when we visit Valmiera! Me, my partner, my mum and gran wish you all the best in future! THANK YOU AND ALL THE BEST!
We went there with a group of 35 people and took a tour in the brewery. It was really interesting and worth the money. In the of the tour there was a beer tasting. We had light and dark Valmiermuiža's beer and also some kind of cookies. After that we went to the small shop where we could buy different cheeses and beer, handicraft and sweets. All made by local farms and people. I really recommend going to the Valmiermuiža brewery. I had a great time there and it's the first time I actually liked dark beer.
I really love this brewery not only because tasty beer they make, but also because they have wonderful shop where to buy lovely presents from local artists and great food stuff - candies and biscuits made of brewers grain, different jams and preserves, etc. They organize farmers markets several times a year, this is place to be - with folk music and some traditional workshops...
The Valmiermuiža brewery is definitely the main attraction in Valmiermuiža, which in and by itself is not really much to see: your very average post-Soviet rural village which has seen better days. But the presence of the brewery has indeed revitalised the village, there are English-language tours available, and the beer is among the most delicious Latvian brews -- if a tad pricey. If you go there, a visit to nearby Valmiera is a must. If you're into beer, you may also head over to Brenguļu Abula brewery -- some 8km for Valmiera -- which features a more rural beer and an off the beaten path experience.
I like the enthusiasm of beer producing interpretation. Atmosphere in nice rustic shop is fabulous adding view or degustation of all nice local things. The best place for edible souvenirs in the region.
Visited the Valmiermuiza brewery this September and did the tour and beer tasting. Everything was top notch (our guide did the tour in English and Russian at the same time) and we were surprised to see how many by-products they also make (different kind of cookies, bread, paper) and that some of the by-products go to the cows who live in the surrounding farms who then give the milk and it ends up as cheese that we also had the chance to taste in beer tasting. What a nice circle of producing! Really loved the non-filtered beer. Keep the beer flowing!
A new brewery with a friendly staff and samples of beer and food made from brewery grains. A work in progress but they do a good job.
My wife scheduled a Valmiermuiza brewery tour for a large group of friends and colleagues. We live in Riga and the drive out there was quite long, about 110 kilometers from Riga. Even though the drive was a bit far it was well worth the trip not only for the beer but also for seeing the beautiful Latvian country side.Upon our arrival the tour guide met us and showed us around the brewery shop. She then took us through the brewery, showed us a lot of the brewing process and explained the art of beer making. This brewery is not very large but it has an impressive capacity of around 100,000 liters per month; if I remember correctly. The beer is brewed kind of on demand, it's not anheuser busch with brewing, bottling and packaging 24/7. This brewery holds less than 1% of the beer market in Latvia and has to skillfully determine when they will begin new batches of beer to meet market demand. The summer time keeps them very busy though! When the tour was over we went into a very nice antique looking dining room that overlooks the beer vats where the final products "sleeps" or settles for natural carbonation and other purposes. There were two kegs of filtered and unfiltered Valmiermuzia beer on draught and plates of cheese and beer snacks. The tour guide explained the process of pouring the beer properly as well as how to look at the different qualities of the filtered and unfiltered beers. The brewery has a dark beer as well but unfortunately during our visit this was not available on draught but in bottles only. After the beer lessons we all began to drink and talk for the next 30 minutes and we had a wonderful time.I would highly recommend this attraction to anyone interested in getting out of the city to experience more traditional tourist activities. This was fantastic.
One of the best new Latvian beers is Valmiermuizas, and the brewery is open for visitors and brief tours. The brewery is brand new, contained in a restored manor house in the Valmiera area. It is easily reached on foot (less than a 30 minute walk from the Valmiera bus station, a bit longer walk from the train station). It can easily be a day trip from Riga.Tours are available in English, and, of course, there is a tasting at the end. Be sure to try the unfiltered brew! The beer is brewed from imported German hops, and is now one of the most demanded beers in Latvia.
