This church epitomizes beautiful baroque interior. The artistry of the main sanctuary and side chapels is amazing: stone, sculptures and reliefs, inlays, stained glass, mosaics. The delightful side chapels have different decorative twists, leading to significant competition among members of our party for favorites. The 5 euro ticket covers visits to the sacristy, crypt, museum spaces with some wonderful textiles, and a small chapel. If you're lucky, you'll visit at a time when the light plays through the beautiful stained glass windows. Our favorite church in Sicily!

The church is so beautifully decorated inside you will be amazed. Their were cherubs everywhere and as others have said every square inch of the walls are covered with something. Be prepared to be overwhelmed. Gorgeous. You can view on your own without paying a fee.

This is probably the most important baroque church in Sicily, and there are many, in fact it's importance could stretch far wider than that. It is a complete over-the-top masterpiece. A must see.

The church was closed and so we were not able to visit interior. But there us easy access to this church and would normally be open. The facade is more austere than others which U.S. interesting given the rich architectural history if the city.

I'm generally not a fan of the Baroque style. It's far too over-the-top for me. However, this church is a must-see simply because it is over-the-top for the Baroque style. Our tour guide mentioned that he had heard it described as looking like whipped cream, and once that image is in your head it's hard to get it back out.It is absolutely amazing!

The exterior is unimpressive, but the interior is excellent. This is the oldest Jusuit church in Sicily. The marble work on the pillars and altars is exquisite. A must see if you are in Palermo.

This church doesn't look like much on the outside but inside every inch is decorated with animals, birds and cherubs from the biblical creation stories. Not well lighted but interesting if you are in the neighborhood.

The art work and restoration were excellent. Damaged during the war it was restored in a beautiful fashion. A must see in Palermo

This church was recommended and we went out of our way to find it. Close to Ballaro markets it didn't look anything impressive from outside, but there is a wow factor once stepped inside.Partcularly stunning are the brilliantly coloured ceiling frescoes which left me curious as to.their depiction. And the marble reliefs covering the entirity of the walls was something I'd not seen before.I do like churches and am so glad to have seen this one. We got in for free I think as have read elsewhere there is an entrance fee.Be sure to check times of opening though. We had to wait an hour and half for it to reopen at 3.30pm.

I was passing by and saw this church, and too a photograph. A passer by invited me to go inside, and I did. Inside the story is totally different. It is very nice, and full of marble engravings! I was impressed! Photos depict the scene you find inside!

Though plain on the outside this church is amazing on the inside. One may say it is a bit ostentatious. I am not really in to visiting churches, but this one is definitely worth visiting, even though it is a little (and I stress a little) bit off the beaten track.

This is by far one of the best, if not the best church I saw in Palermo. The location is a little off the church parade on Vittoria Emmanuel but it is worth the excursion. I find church artistry can sometimes blend and blur but there is an arresting magnificence to del gesu that captures you the minute you walk in. It's truly wondrous.

Near Piazza Bellini and therefore close to San Cataldo and La Mortorana you might as well pull this one in as well. It is spectacular inside especially as it was so damaged during WW2.There's a lot to take in as it's almost over decorated. See it though.

This church looks plain on the outside but walk inside and WOW! every surface is carved, or painted or mosaic or marble patterns.I've seen a lot of churches but nothing like this one. The frescos on the ceiling were unique, there's a huge one of Jesus calling the faithful which is amazing and very moving. What a contrast to outside. We'd just walked around the chaos of the street market outside and walked in to this. A small entry fee 2 euro church only or 5 church and the musuems for upkeep (which I'm sure there'd be a lot of).

Incredible church like nothing I've seen before. One wonders what got into them. A bit off the tourist trail but if churches are your thing you have to go there.
