First of all i do apologies if i offend anyone. We came here on a tour while on a cruise to the city. In my honest opinion it was very disappointing and did not match up to the write up given. Also you have to pay to use the toilets (€1) where the lights did not work, there was no soap & no toilet seat. I do understand that they are very high up a mountain but when paying (or giving a donation) it would be nice to have these things.

A very nice view after visiting Palermo. Up the hill if the weather is nice you will see very nice eye bird views of Palermo. The sanctuary in itself is nice. There is also a small Museum with the sanctuary, and in the parking space there are some souvenir shops and food stalls.

This amazing hidden chapel built into the cliffs is a real gem! We were lucky to have a fabulous guide who made the journey to the top interesting and insightful despite the very scary coach driving! Inside is beautiful a real must see and maybe even buy a little metal plaque to put on the shrine and pray for health, very interesting trip.

Here we are at the Santuario di Santa Rosalia, a saint that is said to have let Palermo out of the plague epidemic. The setting is beautiful, in a cave on Mount Pellegrino. Down from the entrance there is a small "circus" going on, mainly touristy (selling souvenirs with the godfather etc). Don't mind them and go through the entrance but be careful! If you are a woman, you are expected to cover your shoulders! I repeat, your shoulders! It doesn't matter if you're wearing shorts, they will still give you a cape to cover your shoulders. Inside you can see a quite grotesque statue depicting Santa Rosalia at the time of her death, you can take your bottle of holy water and spend a couple of minutes to breath the cool air of the cave. Entrance is free.

Whilst there is a Religious connection when visiting the Santuario, a Chapel that has been build into the rock, it is the trip up to the mountain top - using the bus taken at Piazza Struzo at only 1.40 euro - per person - that is very impressive and makes it well worth the effort. You will see over the whole of Palermo from there. We are well used to mountain roads (from Switzerland) and this is a much fun.

This is the most unique and beautiful serene church you will ever see! It is built inside of the mountain and is amazing!! I had the opportunity to actually see a wedding ceremony, it was such a beautiful moment that I got to witness. Don't miss this attraction, you will not be disappointed.

This sanctuary is built in and around a cave where the bones of Saint Rosalie were allegedly found. Saint Rosalie is the patron saint of Palermo and her sanctuary attracts many of the faithful. The interior of the "church in a cave" is well lit and decorated. The shrine is set high in the hills overlooking Palermo and there are excellent views of the city, particularly from a belvedere halfway up the road to the sanctuary. Excellent gift shop in the church and cafe right outside.

un santuario, che sa di santuario.. di pace, di raccoglimento.. una grotta bellissima nascosta dalla facciata di un apparente chiesa, poche luci, pochi fronzoli.. e poi lei, sotto vetro, una meravigliosa santa rosalia distesa nel suo abito d'oro , bella come il sole, fantastica! da vedere!

Decidiamo di andare al santuario a piedi dalla salita di Scala Vecchia. È una bella giornata di sole primaverile e la dura salita di 3,5 km ripaga le nostre aspettative. Arriviamo in cima soddisfatti e pronti a vedere la Santuzza. La grotta gocciolante acqua santa e la folla di fedeli della domenica rende il posto suggestivo, la statua della santa sdraiata è meravigliosa. La visita è obbligatoria. Qui si respira Palermo.

Un posto che non può mancare di visitare chiunque vada a palermo.. Un po' fuori mano e quindi necessaria la macchina o usare i vari collegamenti

L' acchianata ,per noi palermitani è una cosa di routine, il mese di settembre è il periodo, ma non dispiace nel periodo primaverile, dove salendo a piedi si possono sentire tutti i profumi della nostra bellissima terra.Consiglio ai turisti di fare questa esperienza ,anche perché iniziando questo cammino fatto di sacrificio fisico tempra tantissimo, all'arrivo al Santuario le fatiche non si sentono più.Da fare.

E' un luogo di preghiera imperdibile per chi viene a visitare la bellissima Città di Palermo, costruito in onore della santa patrona della cittàSituata in cima al famoso Montepellegrino, il santuario è scavata all'interno della roccia, è un luogo suggestivo che vi lascerà un ricordo indelebile nella vostra mente.

Ci sono un sacco di cose da visitare a Palermo,ma dovete assolutamente vedere il santuario!!!!rimarrete a bocca aperta!
