After catching a bus from Trieste, we had a long - but pleasant - walk along the sea front to get to the Castle. The gardens are no less worth visiting than the Castle itslef, which is packed with intersting itmes. Best of all (for me) was the ground-floor room done out like a ship's cabin.
At first glance you can see that the Austrians have built it, but it is not maintained as similar castles in Austria. The rooms are nicely furnished, well maintained garden, but the very vicinity of the castle should be cleaner. The sign at the entrance says that one hour of parking costs 3 euros, on the board at the toll booth-, 4 euros, which is confusing (costs 4 euros). Overlooking the crystal-clear sea. Certainly worth visiting, but we expected alittle bit more.
We were driving back ti Croatia and followed the signs to Miramar Castle.Didn't have enough time to walk around the gardens. The castle - they knew what good life is.Worth visiting and paying both entrance and parking.Come with time to see all that is there to be seen.
Maximilian had a great idea to build this place, but it's too bad he did not live long enough to enjoy it.Beautiful rooms and decorations.
This castle is furnished .. unlike some that are empty spaces. Very enjoyable. Beautiful ocean views from the castle also.
This is the Castle of Maximilian of Austria, before he left to become the Emperor of Mexico. Beautiful location on the see, can be visited in various languages in approximately 1 hour, but also the park merits a walk.
This is small, but in an wonderful setting, and they have worked hard to give lots of information (which is in both Italian and good English). Not expensive, worth a trip - allow max. an hour.
I wish I had spent the morning at the Revoltella museum instead. But we wanted a change of pace and some outdoors time. Alas, no sooner did we arrive than it looked as though it was about to pour down rain, so we headed inside to the castle before getting to see much of the grounds around it. The weather, meanwhile, turned nice. Once inside the castle my wish was to get through it as expeditiously as possible. Just a lot of hokey opulence that brought out my republican (lower case R) and democratic sentiments big time, not to mention some xenophobic ones of which I am less proud. Go see art instead.
Definately visit this beautiful Castle it is well preserved with great gardens. Spend the whole day or few hours is a must to do
Definitely visit the place and the surrounding gardens. Walk by the sea and if you get tirde get a bus! The sightseeing is great!
The castle is well preserved and very much wrth the visit. So is the castle at Duino with the underground bunker... Lovely gardens
vista spettacolare, giardini ben curati, castello tenuto divinamente e con ottime spiegazioni , personale gentilissimo e disponibile ,
