Considering that most of the architectural and aesthetical beauty of Vicenza and its surroundings were the vision and creation of Andrea Palladio, visiting this museum is a must, especially because it is included in Vicenza's Museum Card (€15) and offers a closer look into Palladio's mind. There are many of his actual sketches and designs exhibited, along with a great number of plaster models of some of his notable works and some books of his own library. His skillful mastery is also shown with examples of how he combined materials that were more affordable, which made him even more famous among locals whose villas he designed. Architects who influenced Palladio and architects who were influenced by him are also integrated in the museum, a heaven for those interested in architecture.

This is an informative museum dedicated to the work and history of Andrea Palladio. There is narration about Palladio's government public buildings and models of his villas and information on his architectural design and techniques. It is important to see when you visit Vicenza. It is a short train ride from Venice where you can visit Palladio designed churches.

The Palladio Museum is a must to understand the Architect Andrea Palladio and his impact on not just Vicenza and the surrounding area but on buildings all over the world to include Jefferson's Monticello! This museum is first rate and has been put together in a wonderful style. Take your time and listen to the numerous individual videos explaining Palladio's experience, skill, building, and impact on generations of architects. It was the perfect beginning to a day of exploring the fabulous buildings in the historic center of Vicenza. Enjoy

I thought this museum was exemplary in the way it presented the works of Palladio and used 'multimedia approaches very creatively. The architectural models and accompanying texts are very helpful. It escapes a simple narrative format whilst bringing home the massive influence he had on Western architecture. And of course the building itself is a masterpiece; don't ignore it. For those that want to know more about this Titan the book and gift shop is well stocked.Don't miss the Olympian Theatre and take a walk or a taxi to the Rotunda whilst you are in Vicenza.

The original drawings by Palladio are important pieces . He was after all a genius of his time and even this time. he was influential in a major way in the world of architecture at the time and still is today influencing style and design . The display in the museum could be better , I get it that some might be bored , I guess its a special field and needs people visiting who appreciate the focus here . I think there could be more done to laud the great works and influence of the great man.

Take two hours to see this venue, worth every single cent. The structure is wanderful, full of charming corners with an Italian garden. Makes you understand in detail the Palladian philosophy. One of the highlights of our holiday.

The museum is very modern in its presentaion of the materials. Lots of video, sound effect, theatrical lighting. This makes the visit easy to enjoy even if, like me, you have no idea who Palladio was before reaching Vicenza. Its not too big so an hour or two is plenty of time.

Nice Museum with Videos explaining the Background of the time, materials, social Status of the masters of Palladios architecture. The models and the explanations in Italian and English give a perspective on what makes Palladio so great.

I am sorry you didn't like our museum. I agree it now lacks a biographical section on Palladio that would appeal to novices, and we are indeed working on it.The Slot Villa video is either much loved or totally disliked by our visitors, there is no middle road.On the other hand I don't see what information is repeated identically in several rooms. The scholars projected on the walls are there for two main reasons: give the public the opportunity to meet the experts, and explain the subject/s of each room focusing on the latest research outcomes.Last but not least, the large models on display were built in the 1970s. I have never heard of any surviving original model by Palladio, except for a few cout-out paper templates for mouldings (2D): if to your knowledge there are some, please tell us in detail.

Since its opening in October 2012, the main changes concern (a) the set of five original Palladio drawings, (b) the Venice Room, which now focuses on 'colour' and displays a large new model of the Monastery of the Carità, (c) the temporary exhibition area.

I wasn't sure I would like this museum, but once inside found the experience delightful. Recommend as a real learning experience about buildings and how they are made. Cross sections and information describing materials. I spent a long time there.

I am sorry you found the museum boring. I understand you don't love models and hope you took the chance of viewing the original Palladio drawings displayed in each room.

Andrea Palladio was one of the greatest architects in history, and this museum is a great way to get to know a little more of him and his work; the models of several of his buildings really help appreciate his genius.

This is a not to be missed sight. Everything layed out here and so well displayed from Palladio's books to the wooded models of all his important buildings in the area. A wonderful space with a really interesting exhibit.
